Hi energy fish, I’m currently in the process of breaking into the energy industry. My education is in energy engineering but I got sidetracked. Now, what is better as a pivot point for later exits and continued career path in energy: A) joining Guidehouse in the energy team or B) joining a T2 in the energy team or C) joining MBB as a generalist but network my way into energy work? So Altman clearly beats out MBB in some sectors and is trying to position themselves as an MBB or perhaps tier 2 equivalent, but they’re just not matching the salaries. Why were Analyst salaries only raised to $95K when my friends at big firms (not just tier 2 but also MBB) will be making $100-120k as second years?

If all the top consulting firms made anonymous decks or gave anonymous pitches to a client, eg no branding and the client did not know which firm made which deck, do you actually think that the client would prefer MBB?  Is MBB actually coming up with better/more innovative solutions? I feel like I see many repeat or slightly altered solutions on almost all of my cases, are these really things that people at Deloitte/Accenture etc aren’t coming up with?

Currently about 6 months in at a highly regarded Boutique/T2 type strategy consulting firm. I am looking to lateral to MBB and have seen varying advice on when to throw in an application. Have good resume with great experiences + T15 undergrad school. Especially with the slowdown on experienced hires, are there any recommendations for when to apply?

With MBB and in advanced discussions with ACN for L4 MD role. Current overall comp 500k. Is it fair to expect fixed 300k with 50% bonus + RSUs worth 100k?

I just went through LinkedIn and i figured out that mostly all of you are from either of IIM Ahmedabad, Banglore or Calcutta. It kinda demotivated me and have lost hope to even think that i can be a part of MBB someday as i am from tier 2 IIM.
My dream job was to work with MBB as a consultant. Currently, i am serving notice period with more 30 days left to end and trying hard to get any call from MBB but still awaiting. Any guidance please?

For those who don’t work at MBB (since I know their salary progression is rapid), how long did it take you to save 500k and did you live at home and eat ramen or how did you do it?
