I've been working late most nights this week. In the office all week despite the WFH policy. Partner has seen me all day. I'm heading out at 5pm to pick my kid up from daycare since my husband has been doing it for me all week. And the partner says we need to catch up before the weekend. Dude. I told you I had to leave at 5pm today. I had another $75 added to my daycare bill this month for being late at pick ups. Don't look annoyed that you didn't come talk to me. I can call you from the car.
I’m thinking of quitting breastfeeding. My baby is 5 months old, and my pump just broke, and I don’t think she’s eating enough and she wakes up all the time at night hungry. I’m just tired of it. I’d rather just give her bottles and call it a day. Ready for my husband to take the night feeds, ready to be able to have a drink without worrying about when I have to feed the baby. The actual breastfeeding has been easy, which is why I feel guilty for “quitting.”
For those who have kids or have decided you want to start having kids, how did you know you were ready to start trying? I’m turning 31 and my husband and I have been married for 8 months. I’ve always wanted to have kids eventually, but I’m having a hard time coming to terms with how much life will change and the sacrifices that have to be made. Maybe it’s because social media has made me acutely aware of the the mom struggle. If anyone has helpful advice to push past the fear, please share!
Ladies, I know Deloitte has 16 week parental leave. What’s the policy for your company ( BCG, Bain, McKinsey, PWC, Etc)? Thanks.
Any foster moms out there? I’m curious if companies provide parental leave to support new fostering relationships? Have your companies been supportive of the time commitment during work hours?

What is your firm's parental leave policy?
How do bonuses work if you took parental leave during the year? Do hours get prorated or do you still need to hit the normal threshold?
Earlier this week I was so busy I only pumped three times when I normally pump 6 times. Since then my milk supply fell drastically where I only pump 2 oz each session even if I pump 30 minutes when before I’d be pumping 3.5-5 oz in 15, and it’s been 4 days already. I know it’s silly but I feel sad thinking I won’t be able to feed my baby sufficiently with breastmilk anymore. I’ll supplement but I felt happy being able to provide full breastmilk before and feel a sense of loss now. Just venting
My kid won't stop grabbing at my tits and singing "boobie boobie boobie boobie boobie." I think my husband is to blame.
What is the federal parental leave policy? I’m new to government and having a baby soon. I know we’re given 12 weeks and have to sign an agreement to work 12 weeks after we return but are there other stipulations to a claw back period or how long we had to be at the agency first?
Let's get a thread going of parental leave policies? What's the parental leave policy at your agency
What/how does your relationship change with your husband after having a baby? There was an earlier thread related to this, but I can’t find it.
Considering PE, but concerned that the work-life balance is just as onerous, if not much worse, than consulting. Can PE folks be great at their job and have some semblance of a family life (ie evenings with fam, mostly free wknds, vacations without interruptions)? Don’t want to be an absent father
For the ladies in their 30s or older - how long did it take you to "get pregnant"? I know from anecdotal experiences it can be quite a range. Just curious (as a 35 woman) if I should get started sooner rather than later (instead of waiting for the perfect time).
Looking to make new friends lol, my friends never want to go for happy hour or brunch and they live far ! Anyone who lives in Bethesda/Rockville/Potomac looking to hang out ? 30 married with 1 kid!
I’m starting my 2nd trimester and want to tell work I’m pregnant next month, but I’m concerned that I won’t get staffed on matters and then have little work to return to. Is there a good balance?

Anyone from D familiar with the Operations Transformation - Financial Services group? I have a screening interview coming up and am wondering about experiences and pay.
DoorDash recruiter reached out for a role, proceeded to send me the analytical exercise a few days later. Prior to her sending me the exercise I realized I don’t want to go forward with the interview process as I’m too slammed with work at the moment. Can I just tell her that I no longer want to move forward? Will there be negative consequences?
What will be my approximate in hand salary? Thanks in advance - This will be the first time I will fall under tax slab 😅
Are LIC Policies Jeevan Lakshya and Jeevan Labh good from an investment and insurance POV? 25 lakh rs policy pays 67lakh after 25y on maturity. Premium paid is 1.2 lakh for 23&16y resp. Suggestions

Been on FMLA / short term disability for 3 months and doctor recommended 1.5 months extension. My firm refused the extended leave but we’re unable to provide reasons what the under hardship for the firm is. They are pressing me hard for alternative ada accommodation (anything but continuous leave) so I can get back to work. If not they will terminate me next day. Is it legal?
How much does it slow down (or speed up) your career if you chose to be a generalist i.e. not specialize in any one area. Do MBB still hire general consultants or is focus squarely on experience?
I used to think “Go back to your home country” was an insult. Now I actually think it’s good advice. I don’t fit into the bro culture here.

I created the biggest rift I’ve ever had in my family when I left mid-covid for my first industry job, moved to a new city, started dating what I thought was the love of my life… only to come full circle. I’m forever the black sheep, got fired from a shit job, this city sucks, and he’s a half ass som’bitch that wasn’t worth it. Humble pie anyone? I’ve got a dump truck load over here… for fucks sake
