Can someone tell me what being an accountant at a PE fund means in terms of what you actually do every day? Is it not the same as being an accountant anywhere else? Just curious bc I get a lot of recruiters specifically for PE funds and I don’t really get what the appeal would be?

The pay lol

Also curious

Mostly reviewing fund admin of financial reporting, investor statements, and calculating fund performance metrics

If just straight up “accountant” (think entry level) most likely preparing investor contribution and distribution notices and other basic reports

It depends on the shop. Working at an admin is different than in house at a PE shop. Depends on size of the shop, if it’s a small shop you handle everything from investor reporting, client relations, valuations, etc. bigger shops might mean less exposure to different types of work. If your LPA includes hedging you’d take care of the hedging. Working with deals team for cash management. Etc.

I have a client lead that goes to my boss for every error that she thinks I make or for recommendation rather than coming to me. I’ve called her out on it and she said she will work to talk to me directly moving forward, but instead of that, she just cc’s me on the email to my boss now. Have you all had an issue like this? I’m not sure how to handle it.
