Project Management

Can someone walk me through an agile project (high level)? Is building a website from scratch considered an agile project? I’m trying to prep for my interview. Thank you!

Agile is a methodology that lends itself to certain kinds of projects. It’s an alternative to waterfall methodology, which is based on a series of steps that are dependent (first this, then this, then this). Agile has its roots in software dev, I believe, and is based on doing the work in short and tightly managed sprints. It’s based less on dependent steps and more on time - in the set timeframe, everyone gets as far as they can. At the end of the timeframe, they review results, reset goals and tasks, then move into another sprint. It helps make immediate progress on the “easy” stuff and ensures you don’t go too far down the path if you’ve broken something. But it’s definitely not appropriate for all project types, and takes a great deal of education and trust in all relationships, especially with your client. Most clients will ask for agile at one point or another, thinking it will get things done faster. This is true, but there are significant trade offs - the way they review has to be agile, for example.

Thank you!!!!! Super insightful! I hope to get exposure to projects that have an agile approach. So, this is very clear to comprehend. ☺️

An agile project is one that is broken down into smaller, more manageable parts. Tasks are shorter which in theory helps your team stay on top of deadlines. Have you managed a project from kickoff to ideation to pre production to production to project wrap up? If so, how did you keep your team engaged and on top of each step of the process? How did you mitigate internal conflicts when the creative and account departments inevitably disagree? What tools did you use to help them understand their next steps? Hope this helps. Good luck!

I interviewed with the client and it has been a couple of weeks since I’ve heard from the hiring manager (3 weeks since 2nd interview). I’ve already informed my engagement team. I was told that they would inform me if there was a decision made and I’ve known previously that the offering process at this company can take up to a month. Should I reach out again for status update or wait to hear back from hiring manager?
