Can someone who is a trump supporter coherently explain why? Please. Asking for myself.

I am voting for Trump because of his immigration stance. My immigrant parents came here legally and worked very hard to do so. I see that people who didn't come here legally don't have the same respect for this country. They should pay their dues instead of reaping benefits through their citizen children due to our birthright laws.

My point about birth control and proper sex ed is that you can't have neither one of those AND block access to abortions. You're just asking for a baby boom from the same people who will later apply for welfare. You gotta compromise: either you teach people where babies come from so they don't get pregnant by "accident" and/or provide contraceptives/BC OR you agree to pay more for welfare. You can't have it both ways

So a one issue voter? You might argue that I am too. Funding for planned parenthood and sex Ed ends up reducing the number of overall abortions. Hillary cares a lot, but she believe that women should control their reproductive organs so that they can control their lives and give the children that they do have a good live on their terms

Voting for trump as well. The money needs to be out of politics. Hillary is just another puppet for super pacs and their huge donors. Status quo all over again. Trump can't be bought, he DGAF. That means more to me than the racist shit he says

like

Women can control their reproductive organs, it's called closing their legs.

like

@pwc1, so what if a woman's reproductive rights are violated? Rape, domestic abuse??

Also, Trump was pro-choice. This guy has lived in NYC for the last 40 years and I'd be stunned if he is actually pro-life.

Because we need someone competitive and aggressive to get our whole nation in a stronger position, both internally (economy) and globally (national security). Hilary has proven to be a liar. She has lived politics her whole life - we need something different. Honestly, we are sliding down and she would keep us going in the same direction...In these tumultuous times, I haven't seen her offer anything more than "we need diplomacy." F that. We need creativity, devotion, and aggression. Someone who will DO SOMETHING to move us to a better place. He says things I cringe at sometimes and his arrogance irritates me, but I want him on my team.

Y'all do realize that there is already a fence at part of the Mexican border, right? It's not that ludicrous to finish it

D2, thanks for your intelligent response. 1. Any bill would likely be negotiated with Republicans so I would imagine that the end product wouldn't be purely what she is recommending. 2. They're always going to pay smugglers to try to come here. They're literally running for their lives and will do whatever they need to do to survive. The gangs have overtaken their worlds.

P2- agreed. The system is broken, very broken, and truly needs to be fixed. Practically speaking, I don't think that the US can ever fully close its borders. We are known for the Statue of Liberty and our country is built on the notion of welcoming the huddled masses yearning to breathe free. The US will always admit a certain number (very small, around 70k) of refugees every year and then there is the T visa for trafficking victims. You're right that it is super unfair, but the system is so broken and people can't wait for it to be fixed. We need a strong leader who is smart and can get both sides to work together again. That is what this country is about. Also, congrats to you and your family!

And here I thought only the uneducated and uninformed were voting for Douche Trump

Listen to Trump interviews pre-election, from 90s-2012ish. Dude is smart and showman. He tried to get congress to fix the corporate tax laws because of where we are now, this was over a decade ago. What you all see about trump now is what he wants you to see ;)

There's nothing coherent about that thread, EY1

Ok, but Obama was very inexperienced with DC's inner workings and was barely able to get anything done. I'm not convinced that outsiders make good presidents when they have to ultimately work in the system once they have been elected. Also, Hillary said that she would overturn Citizen's United her first month in office. Part of why she has fundraised so aggressively this time is because she was out fundraised by Obama in '08. She's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't.

It will help more than not having it there. I'm just saying, most people lose their shit when he mentions the wall by they don't realize that that type of border "defense" already exists here.
I don't think illegal immigrants come here for the sole goal of mooching off the welfare system. I think they're hard working people who are escaping shitty economic prospects/actual danger in their countries and want a better life for their kids. My family came here on a green card and we've waited our time to become citizens and I think it's not fair that there are people who come here illegally and enjoy all the benefits of this country without paying taxes. I'm pro amnesty, but we need to close off the border and reform the immigration system

like

@EY1 - as a pro-lifer, I would prefer the baby to be born and perhaps given up for adoption if possible. However, I understand that the situation is not desirable/ideal. This is different than being careless and making the baby suffer for ones own lack of planning.

like

P1, I'm just curious: do you support sex Ed and providing contraception and birth control to teens if you don't want people getting abortions?

like

D1 thank you. I agree with you that we are known for being the beacon of hope for a lot of people and I do think it's our moral duty to help people who are stuck between a rock and a hard place and came here as a last resort. I think there needs to be reform for the temporary/agricultural visas and those types of immigration policies so we don't have a constant influx of illegal immigration and can somewhat control it. I think amnesty will help alleviate that since those 11 million people can come out of the woodwork and engage fully as citizens and contribute more financially to their communities and economies

like

P2- interesting fact. I went to Catholic pre-Cana and the Catholic Church is opposed to contraception like birth control pills and abortion, but not a woman controlling when she conceives or not. They vouch natural family planning, which is a whole other discussion, but my point is is that pro-life does not need to be synonymous with women having no control over their bodies, however, it seems like many pro-lifers think that it is.
