Can the group members please share their experience about the CFE exam? How many days of preparation does it require? What are some of the useful study resources?

I actually just passed the exam earlier this month after their 4 day boot camp. They cram an overview of one section into one day, and you take the correlating exam at the end of the day; and you know your results instantly. I’ve been watching the postings over the last couple of months on ACFE, and people are struggling without that 4 day class.

You can pass 3/4 sections with general accounting experience . The 4th section (law) can be tricky without a general law background

Sure. They provide one booklet with outline notes (like Becker’s CPA) and one booklet with the PowerPoint slides they use to drive the class discussion. You have to give your full attention the entire day to absorb the topics/questions they point out. You then have a 100 question scantron test to take over the course of 90 minutes. (The online exams are 125 questions timing out at 75 seconds each). One section is covered and tested each day. If there’s a section you do not pass, you can retake the section online as many times as you want for 90 days after the boot camp. But they do warn you that you will be contacted after a few failed online attempts to determine what is going wrong. Hope this helps.

I prepped for about a month. I took the practice exams over and over and like EY1 said. The practice exam questions are almost identical to the test ones. They change the names of people in scenarios and switch up the order of wording so make sure to read very very slowly but it is timed so keep that in mind

Thanks! Same to you. If you commit to one of the boot camps, unplug from from work for the 4 days, drink lots of caffeine and you will do fine. Your brain will be numb at the end... but it’s so worth knocking it out of the park in less than a week.

I did all of the practice exams over two weekends. Didn’t use anything else to study, the practice questions are pretty much word for word the same as the test. This was about 5 years ago though, not sure if it has changed.

Thanks a lot EY 1

Fannie Mae 1 - could you please give me some details about the boot camp?

Was the boot camp in NYC? Can you please paste the web link to register for the boot camp

Thanks a lot Fannie Mae 1. I wish you every success in the world
