Ever? I’ve had months right after a trial where I’ve had 15-20 hours for the month.
I usually bill 70 hours or so two months out of the year. I’m a senior associate and typically hit my hours because of how busy I get when I’m busy during the other months. When I’m slow, I keep my head down and take advantage of sleeping, spending time with friends and family, and working out. I feel like these months have been my key to still thriving as an 8th year in big law. One time someone approached me and said it looked like I had capacity, so I took the new case they offered—never has been an issue.
A few sub 100 months as a fifth year at a top capmkrts practice. Lowest was 45.

I billed less than 50 hours in April 2020 and May 2020. The courts were closed, and all work ground to a halt. I didn't end up qualifying for bonus, but otherwise, it did not affect me. I think the key is having a good explanation.

Same. October 2017 is still the best month of my career.

Had a fellow associate bill 90 one month. I think as long as it’s an isolated instance rather than a concerning trend, there’s no issue

Typically have a couple of months a year where I go on vacation and bill 120.
Coach
I’ve taken almost three weeks off this December and will probably bill sub-100. Vacation doesn’t count.
50? It was the BEST month. I did nothing. They have me money anyways and no one said a word. 10/10 would do it again.
I once had a 38 hour month and it wasn’t after a trial or anything crazy. Just all my matters went quiet at once for 3 straight weeks, and nobody tried to staff me on anything new. I dream of it happening again but sadly have always done 150+ since then.

Don’t know exact, but maybe 70-80ish. But, as an associate, I’m not sure I ever had below like 110 or so. Litigator though, so work is fairly steady and not the boom or bust cycle of corporate.
I had two 80ish hour months this summer. No comments. Got my (below market, boutique) bonus.

Lowest ever was 40 hours the month after a 230, 280, 330 streak leading up to a trial. Did not get fired for taking off after that for some R&R. I met and exceeded my hours that year.
Low hours aren’t a problem IME in a single month if you aren’t (1) behind on your hours generally and (2) aren’t the only one slow that month.

Stub, I think 60ish.

Around 100
Around 25 hours this month.
~85. Things just went quiet. No one cared. You'll make it up later in the year.
9 — it was during a rotational program and the group largely ignored me even after asking around. Weird social dynamics!
Coach
I billed less than 60 hours total in my stub year and am thriving now. No benefit to running up the billing odometer too quickly. Focus on learning and improving and the billables generally sort themselves out

I’ve had 80 and 90 months before. No negative feedback as they were complete one-offs and I always hit hours.
I’ll be coming in around 100 this month. Almost 2700 for the year though so idgaf (c/o 2020 first year)
