Yes. Tbh, was easier to go from in house to biglaw than from biglaw to in house.

IP is different from most areas given its more important to have technical understanding rather than the day to day of practice.

like

Yes, I did. I’m back now from being in house.

like

Thanks. Feel free to reach out if you ever want to chat about it

Yup. Did it and know lots of others who did.

Mostly happy to have moved back, I hope?

Just curious - for folks that have made the move from in house back to biglaw, why?

like

Because I was half vested and mid-senior salaries and guaranteed bonuses were stupid. Now going back in house!

Yes

I did.

Why not?!

Stockholm syndrome, the money, pivoting career (you learn more in law firm than inhouse)

He is worried he will take a pay cut since his experience so far in his career is construction centric. Appreciate any feedback!

Can we talk designations a minute? I'm at the agency level now and would like to move to a company underwriter. If I'm going to add some designations to my portfolio, which would be the best? I don't think jumping right into CPCU is the right way to go. I can earn my CIC and then pursue a CRM or CPRM. I don't think I want to do the CISR since that won't do much for me if/when I move to underwriter. Is there something else I should consider? Do designations matter at the company level?

Advice needed!! Have 8+ years of compliance/legal/in house experience (not privacy law except HIPAA). I really want a Privacy Counsel role so I took and passed the CIPP/US and CIPM exams this past year. I’ve been offered an Associate Director job at PwC. Is this a good stepping stone to a Privacy Counsel role? How long should I expect to work at PwC before I could apply to Privacy Counsel roles??

He said that it becomes clear to them after the technical and that there is a 3rd round with director but their process never goes to that. passed the technical very successfully but now i have been invited for the 3rd round to present a project .Have they made a decision and I’m invited just as a backup choice?

I know we are busy, I know this is my job, but dang, it is a lot more pleasant to work for the midlevels and seniors who say please and thank you and show a tiny amount of respect and appreciation.

I actively avoid working for midlevels and seniors who just bark at me, never ask, and never say thank you because it just shows they don’t care about being a half decent human.
