OP - please do. Much rather have you home safe. That is a priority. If someone gives you a hard time, message me. We will connect and I will give you a charge code. Much rather you home safe and sound and the firm out a couple of bucks, then you doing something they may regret just to save the firm a couple of bucks.

We are encouraged to Uber if we’re coming from a firm event. I know for our holiday party the firm allows you to expense it.

You’re getting free drinks and food. I think you can pony up for an Uber. Sheesh

likefunny

if it’s a firm-sponsored drink, i usually expense the uber drive home. haven’t gotten any pushback

like

Yes expense it. Doesn’t matter if it’s $2 or $20, don’t listen to those telling you not to

like

Uhhh EY is definitely safety first, so I don’t think we can expense transportation to holiday party but I’ve expensed rides after busy season HH or holiday parties (firm events and not just coworker HH) and had no problems.

like

my market team put out a big announcement to clarify for everyone that transportation to and from the holiday party is not ok to expense

like

I’ve always charged mine through. It’s a firm event and it’s not like they want us drunk driving. In fact when our office sends out the invite it specifically says feel free to Uber home

Yeah expense it if coming from firm event

EY5: the new motto ey is rolling out says "a work related function is still work!" By this logic I am sure a HH is just like staying late at the office and as a result the Uber covered 😉 Seriously though, there is a charge code for whenever people need an a ride for safety.

Ya I’d say no too

big no no

In fact, I took Lyft to and from the office on filing day because I felt like it was a safety hazard for me to drive after 4 hours of sleep a day for a week, expensed both rides, and never got pushback. Didn’t even charge to chargeable code.

Thanks you guys! I really appreciate the input

Absolutely! Economically it makes sense for the firm to avoid any legal liability. Enterprise wise it makes bc the firm gets better turnout for events. Morally it makes sense because, why put lives at risk. Expense it.

Isn't this called being responsible for your actions? It's a corporate social event not a getting drunk party

like

We can expense our Uber if we work late and usually metro to work for safety purposes.

Because most partners share same sentiment, I always charge it through especially since my Uber’s are never more than $15. Not written in policy though.

Policy does say that transportation for a firm event is reimbursable

Lots of post about kids so I’ll offer one that’s been on my mind. Why more than one kid? I grew up with a sibling. She is my best best friend but as I’ve gotten older realized we were more of the exception. Lucky that we are same gender (which I do think impacts closeness), that we are close in age, and just clicked like bffs. Have since met so many sibs with non existent and toxic relationships. More kids = more expense. After passing on genes and getting love of a child, why have more than one

22, healthy, single, M. Should I really max my HSA? I completely understand the triple tax savings but my thought process is I don’t think I’ll have a large med expense for a while. I know, I know, I know anything could happen but the likelihood is pretty low rn and I don’t want to lock this money up for solely health costs when I rather be saving for a house down payment or continued education. I still plan to contribute to it, but should I really max it out at my age??
