You should all be thanking pharma for having something to look down on. If not for us you'd have to further reflect on how you haven't been able to produce anything of value in years, and how you're just contributing to information pollution that no one cares about and goes out of their way to avoid. At least in pharma, the communications are actually meaningful to their target, be it a consumer or a physician.
As I've said before on here, the only part of pharma that any of you see is the awful, and overly stepped on, TV. There's a lot more to it and a couple agencies are doing world class work that's probably better than what you're doing. Yes, it's probably hard to move out of pharma, but I wouldn't know because I have no desire to. Completely rewarded creatively. Well paid. Incredible job security. And much smarter people and fewer assholes.

Freelance pharma and you can get a stupid amount of money, take a 2 month summer vaca and still make more than you would've at your neato design shops. 💰

At your level you should not go into Pharma. It’s very easy to become a lifer there unless you are bouncing back and forth between consumer and pharma. And even that can be a hard line sometimes. When you hit Senior AD and you’re freelancing, feel free to go dip a toe in, but not as a junior

I don’t want to defend working in healthcare but there are better sides of it. If you want to dip your toes in always work on the consumer side of a brand and not HCP. Work on a well known drug maybe something you’re seeing commercials for. Some clients are really awesome and like to push the boundaries on the consumer side while on the HCP they only care about the science.

We all work late nights, we all have crazy clients, and we all get to work on the same digital and print assets as each other. Healthcare just forces you to try to do better work with tighter boundaries.

Working in Pharma while I bide my time looking at new roles (closing in on 2 as we speak 🤞🏼) and it's been interesting. Great learning experience as a strategist. Used to think I could maybe consider it down the line as an exec when I want more money and better balance. I can honestly say after a few months that I will never do it again. I can't get myself to care. There's a lot of money being spent and lots to be made, but I don't believe we are building pharma brands... they are random letters and consonants that nobody gives a shit about unless your doctor says you should.

@Senior Designer: what kinda money we talking about here? Would you just double your normal day rate because it's a pharma gig?

Senior strategist have fun selling pants and crackers!

Certainly not looking down on pharma. There are many brilliant people I've worked with and have tremendous respect for them. It just doesn't fit me. I'm glad you are happy and find reward in the work. I actually felt it caused a moral dilemma for me... while on the other side of the glass watching a focus group, somebody shared a story of their father having a heart attack that was a result of he laundry list of drugs he was on... and it was still growing. It shook me and since then, I've been struggling to be comfortable being somebody who is part of a system that lives and dies by hitting RX prescription goals. Are there people who really need and benefit from the drugs we are telling them about? Absolutely. But I haven't been able to get past that thought.

Other categories I have experience in like SMB, sport, b2b/tech, and "crackers" can still be pretty enjoyable

@Senior Copywriter1 I came in on 1 year experience @ $40/hr, plus time &1/2 OT. That was easily double the rate anywhere else would give. (This is Philly btw) 3 years in I'm up to 60/hr. All I know is I've come a long way from my $10 jobs. Many times the projects are super lame but sometimes you're working on cutting edge cures to HIV and cancer! Oh and I don't feel "stuck", if you do some side projects you've still got other shit to put in your book. Hustle people!

FCB1 always defends pharma and cites a couple of agencies that are winning lions like that’s the standard. Chill

ACD 2 I will always defend pharma given the opportunity.

That’s a great answer ^

I had my PHR back in early 2000, then made a career change to a paramedic (I know, right). I called SHRM and they said I'm eligible to test again even though I only currently have 1.5 yrs of HR.

I purchased the online study guide and it seems that HR has gone in a completely different direction - more operations related than employee relations etc.

Did anyone find this online training to be helpful? I test in July, so any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks - lauren

I’m wanting to revise/revamp my resume. However, I feel like there isn’t really anything that I could change that would not only help get me through ATS, but will also stand out to hiring managers and recruiters when trying to apply for roles. I’m just wondering if there is anyone who would actually take a look at my resume and make edits to it while also walking me through what needs to be changed?

What is your “normal” req load? I am told that by my management other recruiters in the industry have a normal req load of 50 without any sourcing help. I currently make $65K and average 20-25 reqs. Looking to compare because majority of my reqs are IT based.

Hello Everyone.
I am currently looking to switch to another leading management consulting entity given that the current organization lacks providing growth opportunities.
If there's any working professional that can support me with a referral, it might boost my motivation in the management consulting domain even more and I would be able to enhance the learning curve at my end.
