What is difference between "Vehicle Maintenance Allowance " and "Car Allowance"? I have both components in my CTC breakup under basket of allowances. Can any of these be somehow utilized for reducing tax liability?
I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
Crispin has layoffs a couple of weeks ago. They announced it at a virtual town hall. The CEO did the usual “good people, hard to see them go” routine. Then he pivoted to the fact that he had safely made it to his Swedish vacation home and proceeded to walk around with his laptop and show it off to everyone.
I’m 29, at my first serious job, and am getting fired (not laid off). Feel like an idiot, and don’t know anyone else my age who has been fired. If you’ve been fired, can you tell me about it? I’m LA based in PR & Comms.
How do you put a firm on a resume that you were only at for a few months (and you left because you hated it, werent fired)? I assume I have to put it on because excluding it in general would be a lie and people would find out. Right?
How much utilization is "too much" utilization?
I’m 2.5 weeks out of training and haven’t been utilized to the full extent. I haven’t been staffed and rarely have been asked to complete smaller one-off projects. Who should I talk to? MD? Associate? Other analysts? Broader question is ‘how do I ask for work?’
Do airline bathrooms average the highest utilization of any public bathrooms? Every time I go in its wall to wall w dudes dropping heat. Ladies is this the same for you?
Got laid off in April making 73k, found a new job in May making 90k then just hopped again for 115k. Despite this year being a dumpster fire in every other avenue, I’m so proud of myself for finally feeling like I’m getting paid what I’m worth.
I don’t understand how people keep posting about the bench and being unassigned. I’m in advisory(not audit) and my entire LoS is trending 90%+ utilization
I got laid off on the 16th, and while I am looking for new jobs, I genuinely don’t know if it’s worth it right now. Continued-
Is taking the sabbatical offered by pwc, career suicide... in a time when utilization matters so much?
How do I tell my coach that my depression and crying half the day is why my utilization is lower than expected :( she set up a meeting for tomorrow and I have anxiety
Is it normal to feel like you’re always about to be fired? Will law firms fire someone for being a bad fit? I’m a first year (post clerkship) lit associate at a mid size firm and I just feel out of rhythm with everyone else. Like they’ve never had an associate who makes mistakes/ doesn’t know everything already. I’m looking to lateral but honestly afraid I will feel like this anywhere I go
EY's fiscal year ends in June and effective July 1st utilization resets. How fitting that there is a heavy emphasis on keeping utilization up in the coming weeks. 😂
For those traveling through CLT Thursday night, what are your plans? Rebook to earlier flight or just hope Florence doesn’t impact your regular flight?
Hi! Is anyone hiring for an entry level/ associate(0 experience) role for a Data Analyst or BA?
ACN 🐠. What is the expectation at a M role in US/UKI and can someone tell the difference from a delivery center like India? Might be transferring and would like to understand the added responsibilities from day to day perspective. Getting imposter syndrome now.
I have an exit offer to a major PharmaCo, really excited about the offer and company in another state. The problem is that the start date is right when my wife is due with our first child. Normally nbd, but we just found out that my wife has developed a heart condition because of the pregnancy. OBGYN and Cardiologist both have said that it would be ultra high risk for to move before the baby comes and will be safe 1-2month after. Tips moving the start date without getting the offer pulled?
Partner verbally promised me mid year December promotion to Senior Consultant after I said I was leaving as I got a better offer (60% pay increase at a small company and 3 title jumps). Can I ask him for it in writing or will that piss him off? Have you seen partners backtrack on their promise before? Can this be just a gimmick to retain me ?
Going to BDO from big 4, advisory, similar practice but can work on clients that I’m more interested in. Experienced staff level. Any suggestions on the pros and cons? How’s work life balance there?
My best friend’s father just passed. What to wear to the funeral? Leaving from a vacation on West coast to fly to a tiny town on the East coast - buying something on the way to the airport. What do I bring her family when I arrive? I don’t even know where to begin.
Venting: Both kids are sick (3 yo and 6 months), no one is sleeping. Husband is leaving on a business trip all week leaving me M-F. FML.
Tax Managers/Seniors - who has recently left Big 4 for a corporate role and how has your experience been so far?
Immigration Question for BCG Folks: Is it possible for the firm to file for your Green Card as soon as you join or do you have to always wait for a stipulated time period, before they can do it for u?
I need to file a work visa petition in a Schengen state. The visa is for a year and I need insurance for it. Does the Axa Schengen multi trip works for me? Because coverage says 90 days consecutive. Or should I buy 2 180 consecutive ones?
What are the cost of living adjustments from Mountain View down to Seattle, Austin, or Atlanta? I’m considering an offer and want to scenario plan a bit. Thank you in advance for the help here.
When your bosses always come in late but you get to work on time. So your coworker that comes in late and stays late with them gets the glory and the promotion. 🤔
I've an interview scheduled for this week with EY for the role of Consultant - Performance Improvement. For first round I was asked to submit a case study solution. I wanted to know how many rounds of interviews would be there and how the overall process would be like since this would be my first experience for consulting interview. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated 😊
Advice please, especially if you hire. Going to law school and choosing between UPenn law and Michigan law. Scholarship at Michigan and will graduate with about 90,000 less in debt from Michigan. But Upenn ranked slightly higher and better in the fields I am interested in. Also have a family. So better chance of finding an internship in philly where I don't have to leave my family during the summer. Also thinking about going into politics or back into consulting.
Threw my remote in the garbage disposal last night...I need to get it together and stop drinking
Hi Everyone, I have a offer from CTS and I accepted it and resigned from my current organization. I have 2.4 YOE, and my CTC is 9.6. Now I got 2-3 another offer from different organization upto 11 LPA. Should I go to CTS to revise the CTC, is it possible? I really want to join CTS. If yes, should I do it now or wait for more time. It has been only 2 weeks since I got offer letter from CTS. Also few other offers are in pipeline. TIA.
