There aren’t enough seniors in public to start firing them
Maybe it is more of a generational mindset. But can't blame people for recognizing their worth and leveraging a shrinking pipeline of talent. I remember a normal tax season, light summer hours, and a bearable extended return season. That is not the typical case anymore and everyone recognizes it. Maybe they don't give a shit because they know there is no reprieve. There is no influx of college grads coming.
Utilization is not a determining factor to let someone go. What could potentially be happening is if you are a poor performer, and people roll you off projects instead of coaching you, and they don’t want to kick you up for other projects either. If that’s what happening, you will eventually be out on a PIP and then let go.
