Moved from consulting (non MBB) to VC (investing role) recently, happy to take questions!
I'm a senior 3 in tax in Chicago looking to leave public accounting because I'm so burned out. Recruiter sent me a 80,000 salary for an accounting senior role(It would mean making the switch from tax to accounting). I'm currently making 76,000. Am I getting low balled both at KPMG and by the recruiter? I dont know what's worse, staying and being super burned out with little hope for promotion or leaving for an accounting senior role with minimal salary increase because of the low opportunities.

Need a company change and new challenges. Looking for business ops/strategic planning industry roles. Finance background, MBA, and Tableau/basic SQL/R experience. Just hit 100 applications, 12 hiring manager chats, 8 final rounds (w/ 4 take home cases), and no luck… Flexible on location. Any leads or recommendations?
First time in my career (19 years) that I got ghosted! Emailed the hiring manager (president) on LinkedIn. They told the recruiter I “have a really impressive background.” Interviewed with the...
Need resume help — in college, it was pretty standard to have a consistent amount of bullets (no more than 3-4) for each position. I’d imagine that experienced hires would have probably more for their primary job and only a couple of lines for volunteering or other extracurriculars. Thoughts?
So a Sr manager from Deloitte reached out to me about openings they have. I'm interested as this may be an opportunity to get into a new advisory field. A few questions for you all. Cont. Below.

How often are people fired or laid off at your firm for performance reasons? Do you find that under-performers are typically just counseled out at each promotion cycle?
Thinking about getting into valuations. Anyone have any insights about this path in Big4 and in industry? Specifically I’m wondering: 1) what’s the scope of work like at Big 4? (Is the service line split into industry sector groups, or do some groups do Valuation for tangibles and another does intangibles) 2) how are the hours like? Working 9am - 3am consistently? 3) what exit opportunities exit after the Big 4 experience? 4) how does Compensationfor HCOL seniors/ manager look this year?
Any recommendations on good lunch options for a larger group (7-8) in downtown Manhattan. Got stuck with finding options for a client lunch

Which career path will u choose for yourself and why? Options - 1) CXO of large tech co., like FAANG 2) partner with b4/mbb 3) CXO of a unicorn - like stripe or what Facebook was in 2006/2007, with a huge upside when it goes public 4) start a company of ur own that has a decent shot of becoming successful. All the options will make u rich and yes u only have 4 options.
Have the option to transfer to Canada (Vancouver/Toronto/Montreal) and keep my US salary or to London at a 10% paycut. My current salary is 100K USD which will be ~65K GBP if London and ~125K CAD if Canada. Obviously my salary will go further in Canada but London sounds too cool to pass on. So my main question is: will living on 65K in London be comfortable enough that I just do it for the experience? Currently in NYC at 3 yoe and will go back to the US after 1 year for MBA. Please advise!

This question is probably beaten to death. I think I am not eligible to contribute to Roth IRA as our joint income is more than 200k. I have 401k but spouse doesn’t have a employer provided plan. I would like to contribute as much as possible to a IRA. Can I put as much as I want to a IRA, deduct 6000$ as tax deductible and rest (as much as I want) as nondeductible ? Or should I open two separate Ira account to keep things simple ?
I have an interview with the CDC and I wanted this job for a while now. Any insight on HR questions they may ask or how? Like is it situational? I know it’s a panel of 7 and that’s it. Anything else I need to know.

Does anyone have any info about the program for very long-tenured IFS staff, where the firm will pay for your health insurance after you retire if you meet certain tenure requirements? Something like, if you’ve been with the firm for over 30 years by the time you retire. The firm may have discontinued this but some people are grandfathered in. Anyone have details?

A client based in Japan had sent us a list of some Japanese texts and their English translations at our request which we needed. SM: Copy all the Japanese texts and their translations from document that client sent into a new document and send it back to client (to whom it came from) and ask them if they are correct. Me: Why are we doing that? SM: Just to ensure that we have validation in an email that client sent these translations to us. Me: Facepalm 🤦🏻♂️
