We gave all employees an extra week of Mental Health Time and they love it! We urge them that when they’re feeling burnt out to use a mental health day, but more importantly come to us and know that we’re open and willing to talk all things MH. It makes a huge difference even when you know that you can bring up X issues with your manager.

That is great, congrats! I proposed this and was told that people will feel a stigma to use MH days vs. PTO as their excuse to shoot it down.

Well, the generic thing is to make sure that the employees don't experience burnout. Our company insisted that we make a policy that forbade work emails from 7pm to 5am. We started this since one employee left us, and then and there we knew that we had to make a change.

We send out monthly birthday/anniversary notices to managers so they can celebrate these with their employees. Just a quick and easy win

Is anyone else trying to find the balance between being for the company and for the employees?
I've been told I'm too much in favour of the employees when I'm defending the lower-paid employees, or talking about employee well-being, but somehow it's ok when the higher-ups go out of their way to give the higher-paid employees financial assistance, or to allow toxic managers to continue in their positions because their feelings shouldn't be hurt.

Any advice on getting your foot in the door in the Big 4 companies or the like, ie: PwC, Deloitte, etc. I feel like I have the perfect experience for some of these posted roles but the online application process is a black hole. I’ve seen my resume ‘in review’ for 6+ months or more. Do people only get interviewed for these roles through networking?

Am I being too judgmental? During the interview process I ask questions that help me identify culture. During my recent interview I directly asked “How would you describe your culture?”, and it was described as “work hard, play hard”. I expected a much more meaningful reply. Thoughts?

I’m taking the SPHR in less than 2 months and haven’t started studying for it. How difficult is it? I’ve been in HR for 20 years and have experienced ALOT in that time, although there are always employee relations scenarios that surprise me! How much do I really need to study for this? I just can’t seem to motivate myself to do it, I’m so mentally burnt out at the end of the day from a high stress HR job, the last thing I feel like doing is studying HR!

My employer has told me what my year end bonus is going to be and that it’ll be paid out on 12/31 - I’ve accepted a position elsewhere, if I put in my notice now would they not pay me out the bonus I’ve rightfully worked for? I could not find any policies in our handbook about it
