Can you share your agency’s maternity leave policy? Do you have a paternity policy as well?

4 months for maternity and paternity!

like

16 weeks paid parental leave to be used however you choose the first year. Add 5-7 weeks disability for the birth parent on top of that. Ramp up to 50 or 80% when returning should you choose.

like

Up to 12 weeks AFTER you’ve been there for TWO YEARS. Before 2 years? Your sick time.

like

6 weeks paid, obviously you can take 12 as allowed by law. Also offer employee purchased short-term disability (super cheap) which covers the remaining 6-8 weeks depending on how the child was birthed, but there is an elimination week in the policy. This is also greatly improved from when I was pregnant and you basically had to bank vacation time + have short-term disability, otherwise you were SOL.

We have six weeks paid paternity to be taken within the first year, but does not have to be taken all at once. Assuming maternity is the same, but cannot confirm if it’s more.

Zero weeks your first year at the agency, one week if you're between 1 and 5 years, two weeks over five years. That's paid. Then up to twelve weeks FMLA paid or unpaid on a case by case basis from what I understand. That's according to our employee website.

12 weeks paid not sure about paternity leave but I’d guess three weeks

6 weeks paid. 6 weeks optional short term disability. Paternity is 3 weeks Paid i believe- use at any time.

Forgot to say we don't have paternity.

Really @GSDM?! I’m surprised. I heard your pumping set up is amazing haha

@SD2 it is from what I see/hear! I'm not pregnant not have I ever been, but I was researching our policies and they suck. But I hear from new moms here that the pumping setup is great!!

Vaguely interested in the concept of a facial, but I’m sure I’d never make it a regular thing. Is it worth doing if it’s something you’d likely only do like once or twice a year? E.g., are there still benefits if that infrequent?

Good news and bad news: We are expecting our first child in the next 2mo. Sadly, we’ve also just lost a close family member. As a result, we’ve come into a little money and would like to put maybe $10-15K aside to start a college savings for baby. Does anyone have experience with this? What’s the best way to go about it? I’m not hugely familiar with this, but want to make sure I understand the fees and taxes that may be affiliated with different options. Would be grateful for any insight!

My husband wants to name our son after his brother who he loves a lot .i am so pissed that he yelled at me when I am 6 months pregnant and unable to do anything , will be the one going through labor just to have my son my BILs name as first name , my husbands name as middle name and last name of his family. FYI- me and BIL live in different countries and I have spoken to him handful of times over phone and that’s it . He doesn’t want to discuss any other names anymore.

I feel trapped. We work hard, break glass ceilings, put in all the blood, sweat and tears needed to "make it". Usually twice as fast, with a babe on a hip - cooking, running a call. I'm over 50, solo and a parent & over the rat race. I've been putting out feelers and feeling the over 50 burn. I don't need to lead the world - a small piece would be nice, ok money. Fun people, easy roll, smart work, build smart people - cool teams. I get "you'll be bored here - we can't afford you". What2do?

As a first generation college graduate, first one to land a job in Corp. I’m 25 and I feel like there is SO much I still don’t know. Any good book recommendations/youtubers/podcasts that helps navigate this?

Anyone decide not to BF right out the gate? Please no judgement I have made no decision yet.
