Hey Googlers, I’m going in for my GCP TAM second round on Monday and had a few QQs for you all:
1. For the RRK2 case study if there is a scenario for handling peak time workloads where the client did a lift & shift of a monolithic architecture, is the best suggestion to move them to micro services to enable serverless and auto scaling features?
2. I was told that they’ll give me 15 mins to prep after the case study is shared live, would you suggest I build a 1 pager or is that not required?Google

I also negotiated with my current comp. I had another industry offer and it was too low to even mention.
Pay didn’t change much cause I was already towards the high end of my prospective band but they added a small sign on bonus.
The real game changer was equity. Based on my current comp (I sent them my paystub) they almost doubled the equity offered.
In my case after the first super low ball offer I was frank with my recruiter and told her my current comp and what needs to happen for me to accept their offer.
May not be the best strategy but I do think the recruiter helped a lot in getting me the comp I was targeting.
Negotiated with my current comp, not a lot on bump.
1) the biggest areas for negotiation are equity and sign on bonus. Salary negotiation is minimal as they have bands to work within.
2) ask for a new location ASAP. There may be a reason it’s listed as a certain location.

I worded it more along the lines of I am excited about the role but compensation wise this is what I would need.
I didn’t ask for permission per se and I don’t think the recruiters permission matters at all. What matters is what compensation will make you switch.
How you get to that number is upto you but be clear about your expectations and they’ll try their best.
