Yes, as long as it’s not wildly out from the range.

15% or so. At your level it probably matters less. I assume your firm will try to counteroffer you so you can use that as an excuse if needed.

Yes. I went into a job where the recruiter told me the range was 70-75k, actual offer was 90k by the time I got it

Currently making $135k base (expected to get $10-15k bonus end of year) Received an offer at a boutique firm for $120k + $15k bonus Y1 with potential to jump to TC of $160k+ in Y2. This company has much better WLB and more interesting work, but feels dumb to not take advantage of other firms potentially offering a huge salary jump for switching right now. Do I keep looking?

Not comp related but a question on references: I’ve only had 2 direct managers, current one is nice but I can’t let him know I’m interviewing. Previous one was a bully and I made clear that I cut contact with him when I left (he later had to contact me for non-essential work related stuff but I declined to talk). I have other references I could use, but want to prep for situation when employers ask “why can’t we talk to your previous manager.” Thanks!

A colleague shared with me the presentation they have prepared for their promotion case. I worked with them on multiple projects during the year and I can clearly see that some of the claims on the deck are wild exaggeration or lies. For example, managed changes in scope for Project X including contract changes. Plot twist: there never was a change of scope for Project X and the contract is exactly the same. How can people be so dishonest? How far can you go before truth catching up?

With so many people reportedly leaving consulting, I’m wondering how common is it to leave for less TC? MBB comp $200k+ at 27.
