Can you survive with no skills? Am exiting MBB for VC soon and recently realized I don’t have any differentiated skills, just general problem solving. Will I be able to just coast along forever?

You have problem solving skills and this sounds like a problem...🤔

I am 45 and still sometimes fret that i have no skills. The truth is that I have many. But as they are commonplace (to both me and many colleagues) I forget that I not only have them, but also that they are valuable and hard-earned through years of study and practice. You have skills too. And problem solving is one of the greatest. But don’t coast. Each and every day you should be striving to learn more. And if you seek it, there is learning every day, even in the “worst” engagements. Good luck!

You have a good base and will continue to learn on top of that wherever you go.

My question is how hard is it to get a foot in the door in an industry when you've been a generalist for 10 years? I've played firefighter for 3 firms from acquisition to acquisition and don't even know where to go. I don't even know so much about healthcare because my focus areas have all been shuttered or don't pay well. I'm at the end my of my rope here.

I’m trying to transition into venture. OP would love to get your advice! And to your question, I feel a bit in the same boat as a generalist. Natural paths from this seem to be in BD, especially if you’re already in VC
