You can but if you are staffed and they need you to transition, it’s unprofessional. I’m a believer in what you put out you get back so I’d prefer to leave the way I’d want someone to leave my projects.
I love walking away with a banked PTO payout in hand as a parting gift... the last two weeks are usually fluff anyway!
Absolutely
EY2 you get paid absolutely nothing and there is zero liability on the company books, why do you think many tech start ups low on cash offer this as a “perk” 😊
Companies love unlimited because studies show you actually take less vacation than if you have a paid bank of them, and also they have no liability on the books for your vacation days. It’s a great move for the company.

If it would leave the team in a rough spot, not worth the bad taste you might leave behind. In that case take the PTO cash out and enjoy it!
If your manager agrees that the team doesn’t need you at all, talk to them about taking some of that time off if you feel you’d rather have that than cash.
Yes. Only rule is your last day can’t be PTO
Yes, if approved by your manager.
I’m in SaaS sales so it may be different for you. Many times when people give their 2 weeks, they’re thanked and given the time off with pay. As I said, it may vary depending on your company and role.
