I just started in-house for the first time, as a first in house (IP) attorney in the US. I’m new to the role and the company is new to having an attorney. Please recommend where I can learn about in house best practices? For example, I’d like to set up proper communication processes to maintain attorney client privilege whenever possible, and other new processes to mitigate basic legal risks. Is there a comprehensive checklist or a guide?

I have been with the same company for 20+ years. More or less the same role though I’ve had a few changes of location and many bosses over that time. I guess my question is, what can I do from here? I’m a loyal and dedicated employee but definitely underutilized. Also, I need to earn more. I’ve got 12 years left before retirement, hopefully, and I’d like to be in a more productive role where the ageism won’t be as much of an issue as I’m worried it will be.

I’ve been a general manager for a convenience store for almost 2 years now. I have raised profit after variable expenses by 13% compared to last year, and I am exceeding budgets by 5-30% in every category except for turnover rate. I got an 11% raise last year, but still only make $55k. My store profits about 17k a month on inside sales, and 160k a month in fuel. I think I deserve more, but I don’t know how to ask for it, and don’t know how to begin a job search aside from indeed. Any advice?

For anyone who receives a quarterly bonus or raise in some form, does your employer start to schedule you for less hours when your raise kicks in, or pull you from a future schedule entirely once you receive a bonus; only to put you back on once the hours you would have worked and earned the amount given are passed? I am classified as an agent selling health insurance but there’s a private email I recently gained access to showing the company is using my broker license and I suspected that since I’m the agent of record on a lot of business. They pay for everything including leads but I’m working as an agent in one email whereas there’s another showing I’m using my license as a broker. I get $43,000 salary plus commissions so averaging $80 K a year. Any advice?
