I’m sorry OP. I feel your pain. But I hope you can take a little solace knowing you’re doing the right thing. Can you “treat” yourself Thanksgiving night? Get yourself a nice bottle of wine (or whatever you like) and if you don’t want to cook, order a to-go turkey dinner from a local restaurant. *hugs!*

like

Definitely will do Thanksgiving from home! Treating myself will come with Black Friday shopping 😊

like

On behalf of my family members that work in medicine, thank you!!!

like

Thank you OP for doing your part.

like

Could you drive instead? My wife and I are probably driving halfway across the country to see my family for thanksgiving. We’re quarantining for 2 weeks before and after to make sure we hold up our end of the social contract.

like

Sorry to hear that. It’s going to be a tough holiday season for a lot of ills this year, especially if things keep getting worse.

like

Good job

like

Fighting my parents right now, so I totally understand. You did the right thing.

like

I'm sorry, OP. But you're doing the right thing. Thank you.

like

Yep, this is what we all need to be doing. With the news of a vaccine, it's looking like the holidays can be rescheduled tho

like

Thank you for doing it, I know it’s hard but as someone with immunocompromised family, I really appreciate it

like

Thank you.

like

Same for Christmas 😢

like

Me too. I'm sad, but it is the right decision.

like

Having that same discussion now with my sisters about Christmas ☹️

like

Same but for Christmas 😢

like

Pretty sure you would’ve been fine.

OP, as you understand, it isn't just about you, it's about all the hundreds of people you encounter. Family, grocery store clerks, Uber drivers, medical providers, the list goes on. Thank you again for making the decision that you made. I'm doing the same thing and imagine I'll be skipping Christmas too.

I am a 7th year in a new role. My on boarding has been spotty due to workload/covid and I’ve made peace with the fact that I’m going to have to learn my new role independently and sink or swim. I know I shouldn’t rely so much on supervisor feedback, but I had a horrible blindsiding experience early in my career...

I managed to catch a number of horrible viruses plus covid between October and November. Had to take about 4 or 5 days off in total and my hours and performance suffered as a result. In December I was diagnosed with post-viral fatigue (couldn’t even walk to a shop without feeling horrible) and got signed off for 10 days + reduced hours return. My target was reduced to take sick leave into account. Currently with covid AGAIN. I’m going to be 50 to 100 hours short of my reduced target (cont.)

Went over to a friends apartment multiple times this weekend to check up on her since she sprained her foot. We’ve both been specially distancing and not going out (groceries delivered) but I’m feeling anxious that I’ll get COVID from seeing her. I don’t know how to balance my anxiety with rational thoughts because you can do everything right and still get the virus. we both haven’t left our apartments prior to me seeing her so I’m trying to hang onto that. This anxiety is really getting to me.

Plaintiff client provided counter-offer to settlement with defendant-company. One of the principals is now ill with Covid, and defense counsel said they will need more time to address the counteroffer. They’ve been sitting in this counter offer for 2 weeks. What would be a reasonable amount of time to wait for their counter offer before we decide to file a complaint? Do we wait?

I’m thinking about going from industry , 5 + years experience, to big 4 for higher comp then back to industry at a higher executive level role. Do you think the transition back into the industry (hospital/ acute care setting) from the big 4 would be easy? Does consulting with the big 4 look good enough on a resume to get an executive level role or does staying in the industry make more sense if that’s my long term goal

Thank you
