^ill tell you what I want what I really really want! So tell me what you want, what you really really want!
Apply other places. Knowing you applied may help keep you from getting so sad. When they call you make the call about leaving or staying. Also look into different areas of your firm. It might just be the service line you are in.
Maybe Prozac?
Always keep your options open. If anything, applying different places will help you clarify your current set of expertise and maybe even direct the rest of your time in consulting
I myself am hanging on till the MBA, #onemoreyear
Once you've actually chosen to stick with your job there will be a paradigm shift. Also, huge ego boost when big name companies want you.
I spent a lot of time inconsolably sad and applied to some banks (also NYC based). Got some offers and with each one just couldn't see myself leaving for that - so I stayed. Good, reputable companies with salary increases and no travel. I still interview but after turning down the others I'm much happier
So applying to others places just to turn them down bc it makes you "feel better" to be wanted somewhere else makes sense? Why waste yours or their time? Maybe I'm missing something...just wondering.
Main point is to get a new position you actually want. Side benefit is learning more about what you actually want.
