I developed job burnout after 3 years in a toxic firm environment. I left that firm and started working as an independent contractor at a different firm doing tax compliance. I started noticing myself burning out by the end of the fall tax season last year. I was super anxious and lacked focus. I just took about 6 weeks off after the fall tax season ended, but I have a lot of anxiety about my burnout returning. Any advice on what I should be doing to ensure I don’t burn out again?

Well-traveled people: what seem like the best major market cities to live in with access to great in-house jobs (FAANG, adjacent companies, etc.). Some markets seem like really fun places to live but seem insanely expensive (San Fran, DC). If you’re managing an engagement and something out of scope comes up and you ask someone on the team to help with it and they say they can’t get to it until X day because they’re busy with other engagements but it can’t wait until that day what is your response? A. Tell them they need to fit it in and get it done in this timeframe; or B. Try to find someone else to help who has no background on the engagement; or C.
