Capgemini or Accenture? Similar role, a little more pay. Which would you prefer?

if you want lots of structure and top down mgmt go to accenture, if you have a personal ambition and motivation and want some flexibility come to capgemini.

capgemini has always been more entrepreneurial and flexible, but that also yields more personal accountability. I've been very successful at both companies. depends on you.

in the SAP practice for Cap for a large portion of my career. At one point I felt we were competitors to Accenture, PWC, Deloitte (I was there when it was called EY). Tons have changed in the last 5-7 years and they compete with TCS and Wipro for lowest margin. Root cause of why I left 6 months ago.

Not just IGate. The Indian pure play model in the US has negatively (and probably illegally) affected the market for consulting firms and for consultants across all tech ranges.

With IGate, Capgemini just became part of the H-1B abuse problem.

I've greatly enjoyed my time at Cap. been very successful.

it all depends on you and what you're willing to give.

80hrs a week is about right at Cap. I’ve had awful experiences at both places. Accenture was 6 days a week travel, Capgemini is 80hrs a week sometimes weekends, unable to take vacations. I’m hitting burn out on this industry. Beware they think salary means unlimited hours for a set price. My engagement manager actually said it out loud. It’s an unhealthy lifestyle. Unless you get an easy project, it’s like playing the lottery.

like

I’ve worked at both. The differences are subtle. More opportunities for management promotion at Capgemini, since about half the company are manager level. Your salary is based on your negotiation skills and experience, not company. In my case coming to Capgemini they added 40k to my Accenture salary and gave me an opportunity to become a senior manager from an architect. Accenture does have better accounts. Accenture is in nearly every Fortune 500 company, but they’ve also messed up so many times that the name recognition is a negative. To the point where I had to conceal that I worked for Accenture on my last project I worked for them. I’ve been escorted out of consulting gigs for having been associated with Accenture on several occasions. Many companies haven’t heard of Capgemini, so that’s a positive compared to a bad reputation. Except for long hours they’ve been good to me at Capgemini. I worked 6 days a week for Accenture so pick your poison. The puppet masters aren’t that much different.

Looking to make a move from a public relations firm to a consulting firm's comms/PR department.

Any advice out there on how to transition? Which firms are known for happy colleagues and engaging projects?

Cap has better wlb and better culture...but yeah, it’s got a ways to get back to what it used to be.

WTF dude. This is a 4 year old post.

What part of Accenture? If Consulting/Client&Market, hands down Accenture. If Outsourcing side, it’s all the same. Go where you feel better.

Capgemini is awesome in terms of culture and work, if you are somewhat independent and like to drive your own career. But the pay is lower than Accenture.

So as a person who is successful here are the pros and cons.

1. Accenture more pay
1. Capgemini not as much

2. Both are global entities, however Accenture has much more diversity. My clients have asked me to bring in more diverse teams, because everyone is coming from India. So Capgemini not very diverse at all, at least in North America.

Unsure about Accenture but Capgemini is also a very top heavy organization. So if you are not bringing in consistent revenue you will be pigeon-holed for a long time, the Variable is so-so and raises do not meet standard inflation.

With this said. Choose what is best for you. Hope additional insights make your decision making process a little clearer

The leverage of onshore to offshore seems to be higher at Cap but that could just be my project. It’s like 5 onshore to like 45 offshore. It’s hard to feed them enough work with that much leverage. My onshore team is 3 white guys from different countries and and 2 Indians. My previous team was 3 white guys and a Korean guy. I wouldn’t say Cap is all Indians, no more than Accenture. Accenture did try to place me in a role because they had too many Indians on a team and the customer complained that he couldn’t have a conversation with the staff. This may be a per project issue, not Cap/Accenture. Pay is up to the persons ability to negotiate, luck, how desperate is the new company for your skills.

Capgemini people struggle to transition to the Accenture side later. Terrible skills great interviews

Hi all, I got laid off from my current company (product based) a month ago. Since then I've been looking for new opportunities. I got an offer from a good product based company with a good package and also my current company offering me rehire with promotion and a good package. I have a good rapport with my current manager, and he played a major role in offering this rehire opportunity. I'm confused about making the right decision here. Kindly share your views. Both offers are pretty much same.
