Career goal: MBB or T2 consulting on the East cost (likely Boston)
Admitted at tuck, waitlisted at booth and Kellogg. Is it even worth waiting it out or should I just commit to tuck? I’m torn here.

Tuck all the way

like

Tuck will get you there. Take it and go meet your admit class.

like

No harm in staying on the waitlist. I think Booth and Kellogg would have a slight edge (esp for “back up” options if you miss on MBB in my perspective, but it’s really picking nits

like

If you’re set on MBB or T2 consulting, Tuck is fine for that.

like

What are your stats?

like

3.3 760. Are you going to tuck?

Tuck will get you where you’re trying to go and offer an incredible two year experience.

like

Not to mention Tuck’s network in Boston is incredible. You will be able to meet a good % of the MBB and T2 Boston office execs just through alumni led events in the fall.

I am hoping that a master degree would help with that process.

Moving on from news: after 12 years in the industry, I am exploring corporate comms positions in the financial, pharma, and retail industries. My skills range from content creation, emerging technology, streaming, social media, digital marketing, digital strategy, UX and public relations/crisis communications. But I’m having a hard time convincing hiring managers that my “non-traditional” background translates to marketing/comms roles. How do you break into corp world from journalism?

Background check question. Had a grad school project on my resume with a company. Project was 8 months work with company and 3 months of prep training. This was considered a volunteer role and I have no W2s or anything associated.

On my BGC I listed the 11 months listed above. My previous resume listed this under my education, so I never had exact dates. Grad school was several years back.

Q1 is this kosher to list 11 months?
Q2 anything I should do to clarify?
Q3 does MBB care about vol?

I currently work in Sales with the intention of moving over to marketing in the near future. I received two offers for BDR/SDR roles from
Sprout Social and Gong. Both salaries are around the same (Gong - base 63k + anticipated $25k in commission, Sprout - 55k base + anticipated $25k in commission).

I like both companies’ software and it extremely hard to decide which position will get me into marketing faster as it is not a traditional BDR path to take.

Help!

How do you advocate for a "level" promotion in a company that has vague unofficial descriptions of levels? I'm doing L4-5 (on standard levels, or L3 within our system) work but can't get away from the unofficial "L2".

Making 140k with 7 yrs experience in this role, and 12 prior years experience in Systems Engineering roles. I know someone on my team is at 180k with a similar career.

Fighting with my manager atm on definitions of levels and feel like its a red herring.

I know there’s a big ad scene in Toronto. Do you think it’s possible for me to get a job there from the US and move up there?
