Hi Ladies. Jumping into dating and realized I struggle with agreeableness. If I notice they say something rude, might be playing me, or not being as responsive over text, I try to be nice and play it off but will call them out if I’m really bothered. Good afternoon everyone, while I understand this bowl exists to help blacks navigate the Consulting career path, can we do it Justice without addressing colorism. Personally I had an interview (4th interview) and was treated terribly by a fellow black woman of a different skin tone. This woman had the power to hire and after 4 rounds of great interviews with her team, she put the role on hold (during the interview w her she insulted me/my name/age). My point is, how can we foster community 1st?

How do you guys deal with the argument that “the bar shouldn’t be lowered” on account of skin color? I go back and forth internally between wanting to “win” with the same rules vs knowing that I’m already starting from behind the rest and it’s only fair to make sure I get the same or better opportunities. How do you guys get past the differences in climate? I encountered covert racism academically in school. Got pretty bad in the last weeks. And almost lost my degree dealing with it. Now that I’m in industry it’s pretty good but every now and then dealing with our client I run into discrimination.

When seeking roles consulting companies, it’s important to understand that these companies have different career paths. & that Black talent tends to be funneled to certain career paths -which more often than not = less prestigious $/or financially rewarding as their “traditional” career paths. Example:Deloitte USDC. It’s also noteworthy that some companies will push Black talent into certain verticals. Do due diligence when seeking roles. If you have company specific info on this, pls share
