Management in BDO Miami was the problem. Not necessarily the acquisitions in the surrounding cities
I'm a manager at BDO and been here for years and can attest to the national and international exposure and vast resources we have to offer.
BDO is large enough to have international engagements and SOX Filers. Not sure how many large SOX Filers CBIZ has, but I can't imagine it's many. International opportunities are like rotations overseas and generally BDO is more prestigious for a resume. I'd say BDO unless it's Miami. That office sucks.
My husband works in the BDO Raleigh office and loves it.
Heard terrible things coming out of that market. BDO has been growing inorganically the last few years, with most of their major growth coming through large acquisitions of regional and local firms. In certain markets where there was an acquired firm there can be struggles with fully integrating the two firms (old BDO office + new firm). I believe Miami is one of those markets. My advice is to avoid those specific BDO markets. Someone from BDO could probably give you more insight though.
Googling CBIZ. I had a friend at BDO and he liked it alright.
^they've got a weird structure. BDO is 5th largest firm in the world. CBIZ is a fine firm, but it's not in the same class as BDO. Larger network, more resources, more opportunities. All depends what you're looking for in your career, but traditional advice would say go BDO.
Bdo of course
Do not go to Miami or Fl. Stay away from it Far Far away. Worst I have ever seen. Raleigh is best BDO office in firm.
^because unless you're going to stay with the same firm in the local market, the local market presence is irrelevant long term. All else equal, BDO will present better exit opportunities than CBIZ.
Also if you desire to do anything outside the local market (global secondment, national office rotation, etc...), BDO will present better opportunities there as well.
What city?
@EY1 Mmm a mid-size city in the southeast
BDO for the national and international reach IMO. Unless the vibe at the CBIZ office is a differentiator I think BDO will provide more opportunities and exposure.
@BDO hey thanks for responding! What are some examples of national & international exposure? I know CBIZ is very "local" since it's a bunch acquired smaller firms
What's the deal with Miami?
Lol no one has said anything about CBIZ yet 😂
CBIZ is NYSE traded?
@EY2 why BDO "of course"? What if it has a way smaller presence in the local market? 😂
