It’s not right to take advantage of anyone for being young. Needing to “earn your place” or thinking your holidays are not as important because you don’t have kids. Dumb excuses.
Hold firm to your boundaries in this industry. They will walk all over you till you say no. I learned the hard way.
Even if you didn’t have a wedding, kids, extracurricular activities etc.... there should never be an expectation for people to work late every day.
Tell them that. Be honest.
I resigned because of a similar situation. I was told to "work more hours" when I had already worked back to back weekends and late nights. Life is more important than working more hours on a job.
Create boundaries. If you don’t advocate for yourself...no one will. I also think about all of my friends who gave so much to a company that I worked for (so many tireless hours) that ended up getting laid off without a second thought. Put yourself first.
