Capgemini I joined sometime back at D1 level , I do technical work most of time like coding, dev, testing etc.
I have worked a lot in my 14 years and still have required skills needed for the work. I don't have energy to slog any further. Moreover I get anxiety when I see junior level people doing same work as me and earning more or same.
I feel cannot sit longer hrs due to back issues and other health issues and family commitments.
Can I change to management side without risking my job .

Deloitte question. I have always gotten a raise each year, the only question I ask is how much of a raise do I get. But I’m hearing from former Deloitte folks, it is naive to expect annual raises each year however small/big they are? And how does this play in Deloitte consulting vs advisory? Do one tend to withhold annual raises in base salary over the other, or is this just a deloitte culture thing? Looking at exit opportunities all over. So lmk! I’d Rather get a small raise than none at all.

I'm laying in a hospital bed with pneumonia and Flu A after getting both flu and pneumonia shots. I know I'm getting great care here, but at least I know they know how to handle what I have.
I'm not panicking about corona19, but I am a bit worried that it could overwhelm the care facilities. I had to stay in the ER for 21 hours because there were no rooms that could handle even flu A for that long.
We're good with handling what we know, but aren't prepared for the unknown, obviously.
I doubtless got this combo from traveling to 2-3 cities a week on trains and planes, with Ubers and taxis.
Luckily most consultants are young and healthy. I think us older people are at more risk with all the travel.
Lmao “the plot would be stronger”
For what it’s worth... as of 5 mins ago...
Cases in China: 77,666 (2,664 deaths... 3.4% death rate)
Cases outside China: 2,763 (48 deaths... 1.7% death rate)
Death rates by age ([# of deaths] / [number of cases]):
80+ years: 14.8%
70-79: 8%
60-69: 3.6%
50-59: 1.3%
40-49: 0.4%
30-39: 0.2%
20-29: 0.2%
Keep in mind that we already know people can be asymptotic or show minimal symptoms (and therefore never tested)... so the case count is likely wayyyyyyyyy higher than listed... meaning the death rates are even lower.
All true, but the case count isn't the same as the recovered number obviously. Mortality depends on recovering, not just alive but dieing.
Stop. The coronavirus is not that serious. It has a crazy low mortality rate and those that do die are usual old and infirm or very young. They don’t believe it can be transferred via air, so wash your hands and you’ll be fine.
For those with young children, there is some solace. Unusually, nCOV-19 has little effect on kids. There have been ZERO reported deaths worldwide in those nine years old or younger. Take the wins you can, I guess.
Everybody, please, please take this seriously, especially if you live with your parents. I understand wariness about media hysteria following ebola six years ago, but this is far worse. I have family under Chinese quarantine and have been tracking the virus closely for over a month. I think this is a once in a century pandemic event.
The mortality rate is 2-3%, about 20-30x higher than the flu. The hospitalization rate is 20%, which is 10x higher. The R0 is about 3.5, which is 3x higher. COV-19 can be transmitted via droplets, and people with no symptoms can be contagious. ICUs do not have the capacity for the number who will become sick — even young adults can be put into critical condition. Prepare now as best as you can.
@BAH1 and others, I also thought corona fear was overblown until today. The CDC has posted pandemic planning and said that a breakout is a matter of when, not if. Almost all of the data on recovery and risk is from China, an unreliable source. I think this is a very real concern and will avoid traveling and public markets (live in Seattle).
Hey how’s this going for you deniers
denying what? death rate is still at 3% right?
I don’t think this is truly that much worse than the flu. I expect many folks will catch it, be sick for a couple of days and recover. It’s nothing to freak out about
SC4 100% agreed. For a business where statements and recommendations are supposed to be founded in data, it's crazy how many people with no medical or scientific background are throwing around their speculation about COVID-19 with no supporting facts.
I’m not panicking for the following 3 reasons:
1. Perverse incentives. It benefits the CDC and WHO to have a pandemic. They receive more funding and support to accomplish their missions. The media gets more hits the more dire the predictions are.
2. Yes, while the corona virus is deadlier than the flu, common measures, such as hand washing, can stop its spread.
3. We needed a market correction anyway. I plan to ride the ups and downs and not let this affect me too much

What masks to buy?! I couldn’t find any antivirus virus masks on Amazon 😩😩
Please do not buy these! These masks are meant for healthcare professionals who treat patients with infectious respiratory illnesses In hospital settings. There is real potential of a shortage that would have a much bigger impact on treating the sick.

Well this thread is a time warp. I wonder how many people feel silly now about their bloviating about this all being overblown?
This is crazy
