I’d be more worried about your CEO not knowing how to use the word implication
Autocorrect error?
It’s jarring that they would share why they let someone go. I’ve been at small startups where we had to let people go for one reason or another, but the reasons why were never shared publicly. There are plenty of reasons why that information should not be shared.
I’d take note of this event. If it starts to become a pattern, get out fast.
Not even sure what that means!
He needs HR ppl fast
I agree with everyone above. But are we not going to mention the CEO said it was a layoff and not due to merit? That’s entirely incorrect reasoning. Laid off folks are done so because of budget cut type scenarios and then the assessment of performance and then cuts are made. If this was purely performance issues then don’t call it a lay off, right? I’m mean that’s just bad PR on yourself as a CEO (cutting folks at 30). The emotional intelligence AND business savvy on this CEO is not up to par.
Implication = impact. IMAO, this kind of message needs to be sent beforehand with much better explanations around the why, when and how.
I would look at another start up with a better environment! Companies that share that stuff on slack sound scary!
Perhaps a few older folk would be a buffer to what can become a frenzy. I worked at a mid stage startup in my 20’s and some age variation had some benefits - managing any associated risk/CBA of course.
Yea that sounds a bit toxic and also scary they didn’t know basic English vocabulary. But the world is a strange place right now.
