Relocating to Columbus, OH area. Would prefer to transition to Independent. Have over 5 yrs as lead advisor experience and cfp. Could probably transition 4-5m and help with existing book.
What nuggets of wisdom do you fishes have for someone who is thinking of getting a CPA/CFA or CFP deep into my career (have a different qualification). What is the most straightforward way (self-financed, since I have another qualification)? These would compliment my work as an actuary.
If I'm looking to have the CFP completed 12-18 mths from start date, what would be a solid prep course/program you guys would recommend? Any pref to online classes vs. in-person classes?
6 week cram sesh for CFP. Any recommendations?
My company offered to pay my way through the CFP program, on the contingency that I will pass and also stay with them for 10 years after the fact. Is this normal? It seems unfair to make me pay them back down the road if I decide to take a better opportunity. It’s a small business that is worried I will leave.
I'm CFP & RIA with 12 yrs experience. My wife and I are planning to relocate from the Big City to a suburb, pop: 75,000. My goal is to open an office there and grow my book to the next level. Advice?
The only 5 people who have EVER asked me if I am a CFP... BTW I'm not... have been Millennials and gen-xers looking to start DCAing $250 a month into a Roth. Not 1 person of significant wealth. LOL
The first CFP is a bunch of bull crap! Georgia over Alabama. All of the Big Ten getting shafted. WHAT GIVES??!!
Can Bama just not win for once? Already annoyed that they’re in the CFP without a conference win.
How soon should someone start thinking about pursuing CFP or CFA designation? What are the requirements and is it worth it?
Recently got my CFP and wanted to push more in the planning direction. Kind of young for seminars so I thought maybe do more door knocking. What do you think about no soliciting signs though?
I am taking the CFP exam in July. I currently have my RICP but I struggle with how to market the designation. I’m fearful that I will have the same problem with the CFP. What do you do to show people you have these designations aside from having the letters after your name? @
Anyone have success charging an hourly fee for financial planning? Considering making a jump into it, have cfp designation, but am mostly commission at the moment. Won’t be a total switch.
Those who have their CFP: how have you used/marketed it effectively to enhance your business? Just earned mine and curious how others have benefited.
I don't have anyone else who gets this, but I hit my personal goal this year in almost every category; revenue, income, AUM growth, etc. Our fiscal year ends in October and I ended the year with a bang. Just super excited and I hope everyone else knows, this business is worth it when you put in the time and effort! Edit: also passed CFP in March!
I want to start on the chfc and cfp but the courses are 8k through American college. Is there a better alternative out there? I definitely think there's value in them but that's a bit steep for me
Is the cfp as hard as people says it is?
At what point in my career should I consider taking the CFP? Almost 4 years in the business and have my AAMS and CRPC designations already.
I am an experienced, trustworthy, CFP®, actively looking to purchase a small to mid-size practice in the Chicagoland area. I am with LPL and part of a Hybrid RIA. I’m open to different acquisition options including partnership.
Exploring other opportunities on bench. Lady next to me is openly talking to a recruiter in shared common space. Wow just wow.
Have anyone heard about Deloitte & Associates? They are handling my H1b transfer. Are they good?
I’ve put on about 20 lbs during covid lockdowns and haven’t lost a pound since. My SO loves me but (and I agree) has always been big about us keeping appearance and weight in check, first for our health but also for overall attraction. His take is if a disease somehow made me put on weight there’s not a comment he would make but in this case it’s really bad exercise and diet habits. I don’t disagree but I’ve never been so far from my target weight that I just don’t know where and how (cont)
20 YOE @ IBM, Leader level, T2 city. What’s do you think total comp is? If I had to guess, at least 500k right?
KPMG vs Capgemini Invent? Which do you think is a better choice? I’ve been offered a similar level role with similar compensation in both. Working within FS and data consulting. Long term I’d like to move to a tier-1/ tier-2 consultancy. Thanks!
What's a realistic path from agency (media or creative) to a product marketing role client side?
Hi. I have a question. In a world where COVID is under control, how would you feel if your companies went back to being fully in the office? But maybe others were adopting a hybrid model- some days remote, some days in the office. Would it make you want to work elsewhere? How important is being able to work remote (at a location of your choice, not at client /travelling) a few days a week to your job satisfaction?
What's the starting base salary like for Senior Associates at TSG? Anyone willing to share numbers would be much appreciated.
What are some scenarios that would cause the USCIS to deny someone’s H1B after being selected in the lottery?
How do you politely turn a guy down? Not strangers, I’m comfortable with that. But I get asked out a lot by people I regularly interact with. And for whatever reason, I’ll know I’m not interested in going out. I just get really uncomfortable turning them down/ don’t always know what to say. What have said if you’ve been in this situation?
I have $4,000 in my emergency fund and $1,100 left in total consumer debt (a credit card balance at a 10% interest rate). I’m tempted to pay it off right now, but in light of what’s going on in (cont)

Hi, Anyone from Accenture can please tell me How much variable (%age) pay i can expect from the accenture at the end of year. As my variable is too high i.e. of 27%. Thanks
Some people think CPA is just a title and not worth the effort. Is the Coronavirus going to impact folks without a CPA license now that companies are laying off employees? Curious to see your thoughts
Happy Saturday :) Anyone at MBB willing to look through my resume and potentially help me understand what skills im lacking? Current international student that has had no luck with getting interviews through campus recruitment and I don't completely understand what's going on. I've had a few seniors and school coaches look through my app and they don't have any tangible feedback. I would truly appreciate your perspective, thanks so much!
I accidentally dropped my vibrator in the toilet (it fell out of my back pocket). I used a latex glove to get it out and now it won’t stop vibrating. It won’t turn off. I’m waiting for the battery to run out and idk what to do with it to get away from the vibrating sound. It’s metal so everything it touches is loud.
