Changing jobs from California to New Jersey at the same pay. Should the COL adjustment leave me in a better situation??

Depends where in Cali to where in NJ

Compared to Bay Area there’s no question. Morristown area homes can’t hold a candle to Cali prices - I’m currently shopping for a home around here and seeing what I can afford vs my friends in Menlo Park there’s no question I’m adding an extra 1K sq ft for the same price.

I don’t know much about CA but I can definitely give you info about COL in Morristown/East Hanover area :)

Honestly COL in Morristown and many of the surrounding towns is very high. And you have cost of car + car insurance, which is also high in NJ. Morristown is nicer, but East Hanover is cheaper. Also gets cheaper if you go out toward Pine Brook and Caldwell, rather than Madison, Chatham, etc. I grew up next to Morristown and all of my family lives here, and I am often surprised how expensive it is. Also, if you are looking to buy, NJ property prices have gone way up since the pandemic. Especially in towns on a midtown direct train line (e.g. Morristown). With hybrid work, a lot of people moved out of the city to commutable areas of NJ, because the commute isn’t as bad if it isn’t 5x a week

I just moved to a foreign country and I am really in need of a job. I applied to a big 4 and spent weeks making it through interviews only to get turned down, because they wanted someone with big 4 experience. How can I get big 4 experience if a big 4 isn’t willing to hire me? I feel defeated.

This 6:59 am flight from DCA to LGA is like half Deloitte 🤔

I interviewed for an internship at an agency I wasn’t super excited about, but wanted to get some interview practice in. When I met the ACD who interviewed me, we really hit it off and it made me (..)

Anyone other single people feel a little discriminated against when it comes to flexibility and predictability? I feel like people with families are fine when single people get frowned upon for PTO.

So we hired our own doctor to be on a firm wide WebEx about how COVID is ok. When pushed on whether the Dr would travel, he says “No.” LOL @ the idiocy of my firm.
