Rent. Check out Plaza midwood, south end, Wesley heights, Davidson. Housing market is nuts right now with inventory tight or non existent - may be worth it to rent and get a feel for the city and various neighborhoods. Esp with a baby on the way, your criteria for family fun and leisure will shift (ours certainly did). If you want to go straight to suburbia - Huntersville is popular and so is south Charlotte (Matthews, pineville, Ballantyne, etc) Context - Longtime charlotte resident here, late 30s, 2 kids, wfh by default. Lived in/near uptown early on moved to south charlotte after kids came along

Perhaps Wesley heights, wilmore, southend, sedgefield, myers park, dilworth, or the park road corridor north of Woodlawn road. Hmm water ridge parkway is by the airport area if I remember correctly. The urbanish and hip neighborhoods around uptown may be your best bet for the city feel (while still being walkable or $10 cab ride back home). And then further optimizing for a reasonable commute to water ridge parkway would roughly triangulate things west of park road, south of independence, north of Woodlawn, east of 77, but outside of 277. As for Indian community (if I read other comments correctly - I’d ask around the Indian auntie/uncle and then their kids of your age). Coming from Asian culture myself, and at the risk of being flamed for sounding like a non-woke jackass - my opinion is that cultural hubs/communities will be much more sparse than larger metros. Any ones that exist here are smaller pockets in the areas with good school districts (Huntersville, south charlotte broadly, union county, or fort mill).

Do you have to commute anywhere? Huntersville NC and Fort Mill SC are nice suburbs. There are a few other options as well.

Firm is going with a hybrid model so need to be in office 3 days a week. Office will be in water ridge parkway.

So funny cuz I actually live in orlando and my family lives in charlotte lol Ok so I definitely say check out NODA. I'm 29 and I feel like that side of town is right for the age 24-30 age range. Also, take into account for the tax difference. FL doesn't pay state tax, but NC does.

Oh fantastic. So maybe you can answer this best. Where do you like living more? We prefer a lot of outdoor activities, play badminton a lot, eat out often and prefer somewhere that has good Indian community. Which city do you think fits the bill best?

I am about to return to work after maternity leave. I have a 4 month old and a two year old. Our daycare is periodically closing due to COVID. We don’t have family nearby to help when daycare closes and I’ll be headed into busy season upon my return. I’m already on a reduced schedule. No one else I know is in my shoes in my group/office at EY. How have your families in similar situations dealt with this? I feel like I’ll be very unreliable as we head into the busy season.

I think I’m falling for my mother in law. The feelings aren’t necessarily sexual in nature. They seem to be much deeper and emotional feelings—which I get would concern my wife more so than sexual feelings. It doesn’t help that everyone thinks my MIL finds me to be her “favorite” in addition to some other complicating nuances. Obviously, I won’t act on these feelings, but as the years go by, the closer we’re going to get since she’s around a lot and we talk quite often when we’re alone.

Now that my school is completely in-person, I’m noticing that the students who were online last year are pushing back on everything we do in school. Following the most basic of rules, directions, or fun is a struggle. I teach 8th grade, but I coach in the high school. I’m seeing it across the board. Is anyone else seeing this too? Is your school or district addressing it with any preventative measures social-emotional supports?
