Austin if you’re looking for a younger vibe and you’re single. Charlotte if you have a family and want a cute quiet area.
Family - Charlotte, Single - Austin (born and raised in Charlotte)
I'd say head to Austin for a cooler chick. If you are looking for the moderate southern belle, Charlotte is fine. If you are into professional sports, Charlotte would also be the better option. But if you are into rare books, neighborhood bars & cool festivals (that type of feel), I would stick to Austin.
Austin is HOT and the traffic is terrible - and there are way to many hipsters from California
I live in CLT. My main gripes: It’s vanilla AF, lacks a true culture & diversity, and relatively more conservative for a city its size. Weather isn’t the best in summer months as well (humid, stormy, hot)
Live in Austin and wife is from Charlotte. We stayed in Austin after we both finished grad school. No family in Austin, family in Charlotte.
Agreed with A1^
AUSTIN
Family - Austin, Single - Austin, All other reasons - Austin
Lived in both - currently in Charlotte. Partial to Charlotte but above are all valid. Austin definitely has a trendy vibe if that’s what you’re looking for but also pretty spread out. Charlotte is also suitable for single folks - it’s got a lot going on and a good mix of young professions from recent grads to mid/late 30’s. If you visit Charlotte you need to do some research.
