Cheapest thing you've done after making more than $100K:
(e.g. Taking toiletries from a hotel)

- Download fast food apps for coupons. Mcdonalds has some really good daily deals lol ($7 off $20 spent)

- Buy my underwear in those packs that comes in like 5-6 for $10. No bf so no care.

- Use a ton of different emails for free trials on hulu, etc. I've stopped this for a while since I have nice friends that lets me leech now.

- Pay $700/month in rent by having roommates.

Oddly enough, when I'm cheap I can be really cheap. But when I'm spending money, I spend on really stupid crap. Prob spend $200/month just on pampering myself.

Sounds like you’re focused on spending for self care, which is good for mental health.

Going on fb marketplace and filtering for free items first always. Fast food napkins stock my glove compartment. Used to take all my showers at the gym to save water bill and also get all the hot water I want. Got leftovers from office lunches, always had a Tupperware ready...actually managed to only spend about $50 every two weeks because of how much food was catered. Always ask for more cfa sauce to use with other meals. And in general, most of my clothes are clearanced items, never full price idk

TBH I feel like that’s just prudent smart stuff. All of those are “convenient” things to do anyways - not like you have to go out of your way extra compared to not doing that stuff. Good practices!

When I was an analyst I would be in charge of ordering lunch. I would order 1 extra on accident and that was my dinner

likefunnysmarthelpful

Oh wowI seriously miss the left over lunch for dinner thing. Can’t wait to travel again.

I’m still frugal...plus, I thought taking toiletries was normal lmaooo

likefunnysmart

The only time I didn't take toilettries was when I went on a trip and all I had packed were other hotel toilettries and didn't have room for more toilettries.

Refilling the soy sauce bottle using the leftover packets from takeout.

likefunnysmarthelpful

I have super high-quality stuff for when it really matters. But the daily-use bottle gets refilled from packets.

Don’t ask me why - I think it started as a way to reduce waste, and now I do it on principle.

When WFH, once my wife and son leave the house in the morning, I turn off the heat/air conditioning. I just sweat/freeze it out, and turn the air back on about 30 minutes before they come home.

likefunnysmartupliftinghelpful

I do kind of the opposite.. i hate being hot so i turn the heat down or off at night lol

Whole Foods checkout person forgot to give me 20 cents credit for the 2 bag I had. I reminded here and got that 20 cents. Felt proud and went home to my spouse who gave me an earful for being a cheapskate

Agree with D1, I live in the city as well, WHile Foods is cheaper and better than going to Gristedes or other NYC chains or bodegas. Trader Joe’s is cheaper but the selection is more limited

Just yesterday I drove all the way to Whole Foods to return a bag of pretzel rolls that went bad in a day. One damn day after opening! Unacceptable! I was about to argue my case (it was all practiced in my head!) but apparently they just give you your money back with a smile. 🤣

OP sure but I’m not sharing my pretzel rolls😂
