I’ve just painted inside in case that would cover any allergens, and I need a new roof soon. At what point should I throw in the towel and sell? Does anyone know if in a negligent supervision case against a school district if it’s any kind of mitigating factor that there was not enough money for the school to hire more staff? (Fight broke out between students and there weren’t enough staff to prevent injuries. They would have had more stuff, but there was no budget for it.) Any thoughts? I know the school is held to the reasonable supervision standard. Is it possible they acted reasonably given the constraints of the limited budget?

Ours knows how to file on ECF but is otherwise not an independent worker and makes a lot of mistakes. I have gotten more than one talking to regarding being overly eager to cooperate with the other side and push towards a settlement. My boss told me that he doesn’t really respect lawyers who “chase settlements.” I told my boss that I was taught only the most factually contentious cases should be tried and the rest should be settled. He said he completely disagreed. I am concerned that my favorite part of the job is off the table. I LOVE negotiating and haggling. Any advice?

Has your firm gone paperless? I'm trying to find rules for the retention of files in Maryland. Also trying to pick your brains about how your firm went paperless (or mostly paperless). I was to try to convince the owner of the Firm this is the best way for us to save space and money.

How many times would you your boss/managing attorney scream/berate you (not just frustration) before you quit? Some context: Yesterday morning managing attorney comes in legitimate screaming at me because I forgot (for the first time in over a year of employment) to lock the door when I arrived, he then brings up something that happened earlier in the week where I didn’t get clients payment info, instead emailed assistant to run payment since I’ve never been taught how to accept payment.

How long until someone is pigeonholed into a specific litigation area, generally? I started at a V50 firm in a different practice area, switched to plaintiff’s side securities litigation and am in my second full year of this practice. I like the firm and like the work, but am cognizant that at some point I need to decide if I am sticking with this or want to broaden my practice. How long does someone generally have to make this type of decision? Im a 2018 T14 grad for reference if it matters.

First year ID associate with my first Mediation on Monday - does anyone have any pre-made charts or excel sheets for offer calculations? I’m kind of surprised my firm doesn’t have that.
