Fellow fishes - need some help communicating this one. I am in industry and I have an offer from Accenture which would represent a dream career move for me, as well as a 60% increase in comp and a 20k sign on bonus. The issue is that my manager and the team I work with are just the best people and I am nervous about breaking the news to them. I have only been at this place for about a year and a half. How does I break the news to them?

I’m currently in biglaw and interviewing for an in house role. I had an interview with HR where they asked my salary expectations and I basically said I’m flexible but the opportunity is what’s important to me. They then said their targeting x amount for the role and I said that was in the ballpark of what I would consider. Does anyone have experience with this line of questioning from HR and has anyone negotiated for higher than the number they initially said they were targeting?

Just curious, what percentage of your billable rate do you take home? Calculation would be ((Salary and Bonus/Yearly Billable Hours)/Billable Rate). For me it's about 18% as a Senior 1 in M&A Tax (note this doesn't include other benefits).

When was the last time big four had layoffs

Month 5 of 20/4 intermittent fasting. Down 25 pounds to ~170 lbs (stabilized there) M/53. WFH was hard but keeping fridge and cupboards from temptations (and still no booze for three months) has helped. It can be done--miss ice cream! but eating healthy in the 4-hour window. Two cups of black coffee/lots of water btw 9 pm and 5 pm. Doable folks. Don't give up. But am not exercising from home (just long walks 2x a week) due to intense work. Need to but hard to get back on exercise saddle.

Any tips on how to best give notice? I’m currently at a V10 and moving to another V10, primarily due to my team’s toxic culture and lack of mentorship or development. I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
