Uhhh Naperville is not a neighborhood of Chicago...itâs a suburb at least 45 minutes outside the city. As far as suburbs go, it is desirable - highly-regarded school districts, decent size. Resale value will always be there. But it is not an urban setting whatsoever and is not part of Chicago if thatâs what youâre thinking.
Yeah if and when you have to hit ORD, Park Ridge is a great option, my friends in Naperville have a decent drive to and from ORD when they travel.
Childhood Napervillain here. Itâs a nice (if boring, thereâs a reason we called it Naperthrill) place to grow up â good schools, low crime. Not the best place for diversity. It seems like thereâs a lot more going on now than there was 15-30 years ago though.
I grew up there, agree you'll probably be able to resell easily. I personally will likely never live there again but it's a nice place to raise a family

Watch out; your priorities may change 10 years from now. I am in a similar bucket - no burbs for me!
Naperville is nice, but for the $ probably not the best. Very ânew moneyâ feel and somewhat of a punchline to jokes for neighboring suburbs

Look at Glencoe
Northern suburbs are closer to the city, are closer to the lake, are close to OâHare, and have a few nice ammunitionâs (e.g., the botanic garden). Recommend looking at Glenview/Wilmette/Winnetka/Northfield
I think the western suburbs are actually closer to the airport due to the fact that to get to the tri-state you need to spend a while driving local on Golf Rd or equivalent. The western suburbs do have Cantigny and Morton Arboretum to compete with the botanic garden, but yeah the northern suburbs are definitely closer to the city and lake.
I grew up in Naperville. It is a great suburb with a fantastic public school system and a great downtown area. That said, itâs extremely suburban: cookie cutter homes, limited diversity, new money flaunted all over

We found Naperville to be too far. We looked on BNSF between Lagrange and Clarendon + Elmhurst. Ended up buying in Hinsdale. We know we wonât lose any money here even if we move in 2-3.

925ish. Doesnât have all we want, but itâs a good stepping stone until we GTFO Chicago.
Why did you move to Chicago? I spent a decade there, but also a decade in LA, and several years in Dallas. Weather in Chicago is terrible, but core city amenities are hard to beat⊠As long as they are accessible - Naperthrill is far. ïżŒïżŒ
