What are you currently making?
$88k, 10% bonus but getting a promotion soon and will bump to $95k with 15% bonus
This sounds pretty good to me. Are you currently making less ?
Yes I am. Making $95k + 15% bonus atm.
Sounds like a fair offer to me.
Always ask for more. It's fine if you seem like you're a little dissatisfied with the current price, because you know that if they offered you a number, they can always offer more.
Make sure to ask for benefits details like stock options, medical/dental/vision coverage, flex and remote work package, RRSP matching, vacation days, etc. This shows that you know what you're asking for.
For each of the above items, see if they can increase anything specific, like increase 80% --> 100% coverage for medical/dental/vision, or remote office setup reimbursement, or 4% --> 8% or 5% RRSP contribution matching, or increase the limit of the contribution match, or 3+ week's vacation, etc.
After all this, just mention something like, "This base salary is lower than I expected, can you sweeten the deal in any way?"
Good luck with this, be ready to hear a lot of "No, we can't do that, and don't get discouraged. Basically, you won't get anything unless you ask for it.
If they seem to think that you're asking too many questions, you can play it by ear and dial it back a little, since it seems they have given you the best package they can.
100% this - I've learned the hard way that you have to advocate for yourself and be okay with being assertive and just asking. You never know until you ask!
There are some great videos on LinkedIn regarding salary/offer negotiation. With Cisco there might be a tad flex in salary but most likely not, based on your bonus you are a level 8 or 9? RSUs and sign on bonus could be greater with more flexibility
Mid grade 8 in US is approx $100k. Not sure what it is in Canada. But Cisco tried to offer just below mid to allow room for growth
