I’m not worried that I’ll never see my classroom again but I am sad that it could be: 1. A very long time or 2. A very dangerous place

I’m not sure I can handle teaching from home with my own kids and since I’m home, it seems housework has tripled!

Worried I won't see it until 2021.

NY governor says physical schools are no longer necessary. So I'm guessing never.

Ok…I’m curious. I pretty much have to beg, barter and steal to get supplies for my classroom. Do teachers in states with legal cannabis have this problem? It’s my understanding that sales tax from its purchase goes to schools, or is that all smoke and mirrors…No pun intended. 😉

I have a student with autism. He is mostly behavioral and at a lower learning level so he has to be in a separate classroom. We try to let him play with the students at recess or join in class parties. He has a sibling that attends school as well. When we were waiting in car line a group of girls talked about how they feel so bad for the sibling because of my student. Thankfully, neither student or sibling heard. But how do I respond to that as an adult? Especially, if they do hear?

End of Year Sign Out Poll: I’m curious how many teachers are required to: give up their keys at the end of the year even when they’re returning, clean out their classroom even when they’re returning, do intensive cleaning/janitorial duties before signing out, or other ridiculous procedures? (My answer in comments)

Now that my school is completely in-person, I’m noticing that the students who were online last year are pushing back on everything we do in school. Following the most basic of rules, directions, or fun is a struggle. I teach 8th grade, but I coach in the high school. I’m seeing it across the board. Is anyone else seeing this too? Is your school or district addressing it with any preventative measures social-emotional supports?

Please use the rusty red COVID in the classroom. This bowl is not in use.

I probably spent over $2000 this past year but started my first year as a self-contained SPED teacher in an autism program. Such different supplies needed then the general education classroom.

I teach PreK in a public school. Our state allows PreK programs to nap without masks if proper ventilation is provided. After coming back from the short Thanksgiving break I’ve come to the realization that I am burnt out (or just entirely hate my job/life). I’ve been dreading work for the past 3-4 months. I’ve realized that the occasional extended weekend trips/breaks aren’t enough. I was originally planning on taking just a few days off at the EoY, but I’m going to now take 2 weeks off to completely detach. If you’ve been feeling the same way as I have, I encourage you to take as much time off as you can 🥲😪

35 yo Asian male with more than 13 years of experience interfacing with senior management and execs at various companies on security strategy and operations type work. I have a very young looking face (baby face with barely any facial hair) and have been told I look like I’m 12. I have a deep voice when I talk and people usually listen. However, during every first impression from older gentlemen with facial hair, I always get the feeling that I’m too young to be in that meeting. How to deal?

First time expecting mom here. I have a very noob / stupid question. So I read that you're not supposed to let the baby sleep alone in his/her room when newborn. So then what is the point of the nursery?! Wouldn't it make more sense to have the crib/bassinet in the parents' bedroom, or have a bed for an adult in the nursery as well? Confused here.

Looking for some advice on making a career switch. Currently in FP&A for a fintech company making $80k a year with a 10% bonus and options that are exercisable when the company goes public. I have been with this company a little under a year. I just received an offer to join a boutique consulting firm that would draw on my current financial and technical experience. Compensation is $100k a year with a 20% bonus. I love my current company, but is this a no brainer? Should I ask for a counter?

When did you know that you want to have a kid(s) and what helped you decide to go for it? Not a mom but want to ask people With first hand experience. My BF is sure he wants them and I did too until I did the research on cost of childcare, lifestyle changes, and most importatntly the impact on career (my BF says family stays with you but works don't. I love work for the sense of achievement). Now I am leaning toward childfree. I would really appreciate your thoughts and advice!
