It’s like an expensive watch. Some people will notice but most people won’t. The most critical aspect of any suit is fit. If it fits you well, it will look pretty decent regardless of underlying quality

D1 hit the nail. A cheap suit if well fitted will look better than an ill fitting expensive suit. That said materials matter. You’ll always want wool even if it’s cheap. There are still poly suit that look terrible. I recently complimenting a gentleman on his suit at a wedding and he was giddy with delight as it was a cheap $150 dollar suit from H&M. Suit construction is important in terms of longevity. Well constructed means that it won’t wrinkle as much, will mold to your body over time, any number of other benefits. I have an expensive custom and I wear my cheaper BR Monogram suits the most.
D1, that's what I think about suits too. I notice the general fit of a suit, but I can't tell too much beyond that. On the other hand, I can tell different coffee blends!
I’m not buying nice suits for others. I buy them since they are better constructed, last longer, feel better on me, and look better on me.
Yes there is diff in quality but spending $ on good tailoring a cheaper suit has a bigger impact on how it looks
canvassed suits will last longer. you wouldn’t know the difference though unless you saw a fused suit that was in bad shape. most important thing is fit, followed by style, then construction and material if you’re into quality
I got my first bespoke suit recently and it completely changed my view on other people’s suits. I now immediately notice whether the sleeves are the correct tailored length, whether the buttons on the sleeves are real or not, whether the stitching is done by hand or machine, whether the suit has shoulder pads (not a good sign if it does).
I can taste the difference between different brands of vodka but I can’t tell the difference between a nice and a premium suit
Material feels diff
Like IBM1 says the nicer suits have better fabrics which look and feel different/better. They also tend to have full canvas coats which hang better. The cheap suits use glue to hold the coat fabric to the frame but it wears badly and doesn’t look as natural

Your two examples were an expensive cheap suit and and overpriced but less expensive cheap suit. Quality can be had at a lower price point, you just need to know what you are looking for.
You can tell the difference between what I’ll call "tiers”. Even at a distance, a nylon/rayon suit, 100% wool, and 25%+ silk suit will look different.
Nylon/rayon just plain looks cheap and flimsy. 100% wool is pretty standard. Once you start having a high percentage of silk, it starts getting shiny.
You won’t really be able to tell the difference between a “cheap” 100% wool suit and a premium one at a distance. The premium one will feel a lot better to wear though.

Like everyone on here: yes you can see, but more importantly FEEL the difference yourself. When I started my career, I wore suits < $250, which run hot (polyester used), and break quickly. Then, when I didn’t have kids, I had full custom suits made ($1200-1500 per suit) which fit very nice, but were of varying quality. Now, with two kids and more bills to pay, I opt for suits from Suit Supply, around 500-800 bucks a pop, some minor tailoring needed, but the best trade off for me!
