Partners, how do you guys view managers and directors that are hungry to move up the ladder? At any point do you feel you need to protect your client relationships from your directors/managers?

I know as attorneys of color, we often find ourselves being in a room with dozens of attorneys and still were the only attorney of color (I’m a brown woman, very often the only brown person AND only woman in the room). I’m starting to attend more client meetings and depositions, trials, etc. and I’m noticing it more and it’s starting to distract me bc I start overthinking it in the moment. How do y’all deal with that?

I feel like my creative team is secretly criticizing me for asking them to build decks (their job) and make executive and client revisions (also their job). It’s making me feel like a bad producer, but I’m also wondering why aren’t they in a more cooperative or positive mood when we meet to talk about work?
This is the only project we are all on and I don’t understand why they make me feel like I’m asking for too much.

can i cite a journal i dont have full access to? making a capstone project and. I really like the results of 1 study. this particular study was cited by another study. but i want to cite the original source of info. can I? they basically put their results in their abstract. thanks.

This question might anger some, but not meant to be provoking. Does anyone else feel that half the jobs in tech (scrum master, project manager, product manager, etc.) are more hindering than helpful? I feel like productivity would sky rocket if we didn’t have 10+ hours a week added of admin work/agile ceremonies/status meetings, and you just let developers and analysts do their job. Why are we spending hours learning how to estimate story points (for example) rather than improving production?

Would you take a VP role at 4 months pregnant? I’m in house at Manager level and been offered VP at a large agency. Nice raise and obviously title will open doors. But I’m scared about going back to agency life and it’s hours and workload with a new baby. Can’t decide whether to take the jump now so it benefits me in long run or take the route which will likely be easier on me as a new mom and potentially risk slowing down career. Really torn.
