Sorry, no, second meeting is coming up. And the first incident was mentioned again, as a reminder and because it made it up the chain at client then to project lead to mgr to me.
Thanks guys appreciate the support 😊 I know it’s dumb, but can’t stop worrying.
That sounds painful, I’m sorry you’re experiencing that right now. I don’t have any good advice other than to try to not let yourself be distracted by it. Difficult, I know, but try to focus on one thing you can push forward or deliver each day
So you weren’t on your phone for this second meeting and they still brought it up? Def keep phone in bag moving forward!
Next to her. This happened months ago. Heading to another meeting and the same incident was brought up again. Was told it was mentioned to a higher up at the client on so my client lead mentioned it something about professionalism to my mgr so she reminded me again, but reiterated she has no idea what they are taking about. Planning to not take my phone out of my bag this time, but I can’t stop thinking about it and anxiety is through the roof. Stupid little thing and now I just want off the project. I thought it went away and it reappears. Tips for coping? I think that complainer just doesn’t like me and budget is tight so they are just looking at everything with a microscope.
Its just a project and just a client. And everyone knows shes being mean to you. This cant kill you or change your life a single bit. Relax!
Keep it in your bad and if you can (and if it’s appropriate) ask questions / intervene during the meeting. Good luck, OP!
I assume you were taking notes? Either way, learning moment and nothing to be ashamed of. I’ve been there. The perception of professionalism is almost as important as the fact of it. Try to bring pen and paper/notebook but if you don’t have one in the future you can always explain to the room that it’s your best way of taking notes. Of course if you aren’t doing that then the phone should be put away regardless of their comments.
I meant in your bag***
Extend screen, rather than 'duplicate' when presenting! Allows you to keep working and taking notes, refer to other detailed material, quickly google a client question, etc. Grab a privacy screen while youre at it if you dont already have one. Im always amazed at how few people know about this or take advantage of it. Ive had to share this tip with many who were in the exact situation you are in.
After that is taken care of, there is zero need to look at your phone.
