Client gifts: thoughts on gifting a great puzzle to a client? I have several clients where I know food/wine won't work due to dietary restrictions. Our family always does puzzles at the holidays and I know these contacts have kids that might enjoy the gift. Any other ideas welcome!

I am a full stack developer with experience in Java , spring boot and angular.
I have been assigned a project where basically I have to do is data migration.
There is data in some on premise and you do some configuration changes and bring it on to cloud ( S3 ). And later on you check file count and for redundant data.
I don't see much dev here.
I am not how it's gonna affect my career. Pls suggest me what should I do.

I just accepted an M offer from Deloitte but don't start for at least another month. Haven't even had a chance to give my current employer notice. But I already have folks from Deloitte asking to connect to get me staffed on their project.

Is this typical? Best way to respond? I was hoping to have a little time to orient myself -- don't feel I even know the right questions to ask to see if the project would be a good fit.

I left my old firm and started my own firm in September. I have already started to get client referrals and so far I am working from my home only - because it’s COVID time and people know Zoom now. I do estate planning and elder law, which lends itself to meeting clients at their locations when needed. I had a client drop off documents I need to review at my house this week and this was fine with the client. Do any attorneys here open their own home to clients ever for meetings?

I have joined Nagarro almost a year now as a senior architect. However, I see lot of issues here. The company is great so far as employee friendliness is concerned. It may be rated as the top most company in that regard and that is why attrition is well within control. However, there are issues:

1. Project Allocation - allocated to projects without fitment with the role or skills. No internal job portal

2. Lots of seniors in bench for long time

3. No way to give company feedback

Those of you who left for industry, what do you work towards in your role? I was reflecting on my time in public and there was always something, whether it was a new section in the file, getting more client contact, getting invited to a big golf outing, running the jobs, managing the jobs, etc. I worry that leaving would leave me bored and not motivated to hit any sort of goal. So I have been offered a job at multinational company as a Data Engg. It was a part of the hiring event, and literally got selected with a VERY VERY SIMPLE technical assessment, and a 45 minute interview.

The pay should within my expectations, but I am unsure about the company and the team.

Just that the process was way too easy so quick. I do not even know the hiring manager.

Someone please tell me if I am crazy. I am at a family law firm with approximately 25 attorneys. I previously worked at small shops where I essentially handled everything myself with no support staff. Now at my current firm I have a paralegal who really only makes my job more difficult… am I crazy to say that I don’t need a paralegal as I am comfortable operating as a solo and pay me slightly. I’m already pretty much operating on my own anyway. Feel like it’s a win win.

My visa expiry is June 2023 , whereas my Appointment to consulate is July 2022. I am going to renew my visa now but for my appointment I had given my current passport number and for appointment I need to carry the renewed passport(Which will have new Passport Number) , please help if this will be an issue?? My company has always had SalesForce but it was not really a tool that we used or that anyone looked at. Over the last year my company has put more stress on growth (to be acquired or IPO) and they are now obsessed. Hey all - first year associate here… I’ve met my hours requirement for this year (requirement is 1900 and am currently at around 2050 with billable hours - approx. 2160 with non billable admin hours) and I am just tired. Is it okay to just “disappear” during the holidays (thanksgiving week, week of Christmas) and let partners and senior associates know I am not available? At this point I don’t care about making more money - I just want to sleep, read a good trashy book, and cuddle with my dog.

I actively avoid working for midlevels and seniors who just bark at me, never ask, and never say thank you because it just shows they don’t care about being a half decent human.

I have a friend who has been at 4 firms in 6 years. She wants me to refer her to my firm (a v25) but I actually don’t think she’s a great atty and substantively isn’t experienced in the area she wants to work (wants to do tech trans but had experience in trademark prosecution and ip lit).
