I’m in a situation where a client has progressively asked me to do more and more small tasks that aren’t part of my job description. At first I agreed because it was tiny requests that wouldn’t take a few minutes at most but now there’s so much to do I feel like I’m being taken advantage of. How can I assert myself?

Audit manager here checking in how is everyone doing? I feel like there is such high expectation from everyone these days. Client services 40/45/55 hours and all these nonsensical cluster activities, trainings and cohorts on the top of that. I don’t think I can handle this anymore. When I speak up about it, I am told my leadership that everyone is doing it, so you have to do it to keep up with the competition. I seriously just don’t want to give more than 40 hours of my time to this firm.

I'm on a long term project (likely to continue on in perpetuity) and the relationship among team members is getting kind of crazy. A lot of stress seems to be building up among partners. I'm the senior associate assisting in the management of all workflows. My tasks are complete and accurately executed, but things are getting super toxic lately.
