Client requested for me to be moved off the project. When I spoke to the Sr. Mgr. he mentioned it wasn’t anything related to what I had done and it was related to personality differences. TBC..

I think it comes down to whether your manager likes you or not. If you’re a favorite over and above the rest of your team, they’ll take care of you at year end. If you’re liked equally as much as everyone else, you’ll get dinged for this year but then right back in line with everyone else thereafter. It’ll be a little blip in the grand scheme of things, but as is with anything, try to learn whatever you can (even if simply how to react to an unjust experience) and you’ll come out better for it.

Lol, being rolled off due to "personality differences" sounds like a bad review is coming yes. But might not, not enough context to know. Good luck!

Based on the response from the Sr Mgr, should I expect a negative review? The quality of my work has been good and my team is happy with me and wanted to keep me on the project.

Interesting, need more details OP - following..

Networking question here. A retired partner at the firm I used to work out reached out to me recently about attending an afternoon during the week (b4 4/30) with one of his long time clients. The partner and I have kept in touch since I joined my new firm and I feel like his invitation is a great networking opportunity since the client (who I have worked with before) is on a number of boards. Torn as how to request off as an S3. Could materialize to nothing but could be good for reconnecting.

I have to travel to my client every week and the client’s office is attached to a very nice hotel that’s $250 per night. There’s a hotel right across the street that’s $150 per night.. it’s alright, but not as great. Should I be mindful about how much I’m spending or should I blow up the budget until someone says something?

Currently in discussions with EY for a position in their Strategy & Transaction team, fdd service line. I made it clear that I am interested in expanding my skillset in the future and maybe work on a strategy project if possible (i want to specialise in an industry, instead of a service line).
Is it possible to do a secondment within the firm in the future if i wanted to do that?

I moved to Canada from India 2.5 years ago for my PG in IT BA. I have a bachelors in IT and I worked as a developer for 5 years back home. After my PG, I spent 8 months looking for a job, my current company interviewed me for Technical project manager, but they offered me the role of a PC. I accepted it without negotiating as I did not want to lose the opportunity, I am extremely underpaid and I have been doing the job of 3 people, as my company keeps firing folks. I’ve lost all my confidence.

Recently started my own firm and interested in others thoughts. Are there resources out there for practical advice or is it only something that comes with experience? For example, I can take let's say a 601A client and use the resources available to me to learn how to do it. But if a client asks me is it better to marry my fiance in her home country, bring her here on a K-1 or have her visit on a B-2, that's not learned from a book or webinar. How does one learn how to evaluate new cases?

I’ve been negotiating a settlement on behalf of a client. OP is a major corp. we’ve gone back and forth for months, almost a year. Finally came to a final agreement and we’re reviewing for final signature. Then client is reviewing and decides they want something else modified. It’s a point of contention. OP has said no. Should I communicate this to client before pushing back against OP’s rejection of the mod?
