Are any traveling projects looking for an analyst? I joined a year ago & consulting hasn't lived up to what I imagined. I've been on the same local project since I joined & looking for a change.

hypothetical: account brings a decent brief with a decent budget. client is allegedly “open minded” and “reasonable”. needs a big idea. offsite brainstorm, where do you go and what do you bring?

Long story short changed jobs for a high TC but got with a tough client late evening calls , engagement is a dumpster fire and the culture is top down as with most consulting firms. Options are to weather the storm for 6 months or head back to EY (no bridges burnt ). Thoughts from fishes here ?

How do you set boundaries with regard to work hours? I can feel this project slipping into a 7:30am - 8:30pm routine and it’s cutting into my workout time and sleep. How can I tactfully prevent this

I work with a client who intimidates me greatly. I have anxiety before meetings with her. I feel like no matter how well I prepare, I always come off as unprepared because she will often ask questions that I struggle responding to. I’m so nervous that I often end up talking in circles. She has said that talking to me is “painful.” What can I do to become more confident when I communicate with her?

Relatively new to consulting. Is it just my firm or does 90%+ of firm developed “assets” and “accelerators” boil down to slideware that sounds great and may sell the work but then in practical application doesn’t actually help and often times hurts the delivery team? So in the end, the burden is on the lower level day to day team to BS to client and the partner who sold this amazing tool is nowhere to be found. Is this just the game?

We (small firm) have been trying to staff an engagement manager on each project but it’s been difficult. Does every project have an EM, and do you staff EMs on projects full time?

How do you respectfully set boundaries? We couldn't get started on a project until we get client approvals. We got approvals on Christmas Eve. I had already told Director I am off the week of New Year's Eve (if I don't take the time before 12/31 I lose it). I caved in and agreed to work mornings but that basically wasn't enough to get theough as much work as the director and partner would have liked to review by end of week. Now, I've underelivered, I have lost time off and my family's upset...

Client perspective: what do you think when you see emails sent in the early morning hours from auditors?

Need help fb fam: current project is M-F, 4hr flight away, have to request weekends/holidays off. I fly out Sundays and don't get back until Friday night. Basically a glorified note taker, I hate it.

When does it end? I feel like every day is so much effort to be happy. I struggle with depression and suicidal ideation, for years. Exercise, meditate, journal. I’m always looking to better myself, I have hobbies, side hustle. My mother told me I should be medicated—nothing against medication, I have taken in the past, just did not appreciate the comment, it was hurtful. People need empathy. Medication is not going to help me find fulfillment in my career, or to find a life partner.

been working at this newer company for almost a year now. I was giving two raises and promotions within 4 months of being there. given high praise for my work ethic but I got written up in the last promotion for dropping the ball on two files after not being properly trained. Was told the write up wasn’t a big deal. been working my butt off in this hybrid role(transaction/sales) and was given a final warning over the dumbest thing which I had proof wasn’t accurate. What should I do?
