Client wants to set up an LLC where a President gets 25% of the membership interests but contributes no capital other than his services. Governance is supposed to be handled by the vote of the members based on percentage ownership. It seems like the President is going to recognize tax on the value of his contributed services unless we structure his interests as profits interests. Would welcome anyone’s thoughts. Hi friends of fishbowl! A year ago I told myself no more agencies. Then I got a job at another agency and I’m basically hating my life more than ever right now. This place is not good for me mentally and I’ve only been here for 90 days. I should’ve listened to my gut but here we are. So my question is what job titles should I be targeting as a senior project manager if I want to go to to client side?

We have a high paying client that texts us ( me the other associate and the partner) at a late hour - usually 3 a.m. the first time the client did it, the partner wasn’t on the thread so I told him about it and he said he’d talk to the client. Now the client is doing it again. It has once again disturbed my sleep and I can’t go back to sleep when I start my work day in 2 hours. I’m pissed. What should I do?

This question might anger some, but not meant to be provoking. Does anyone else feel that half the jobs in tech (scrum master, project manager, product manager, etc.) are more hindering than helpful? I feel like productivity would sky rocket if we didn’t have 10+ hours a week added of admin work/agile ceremonies/status meetings, and you just let developers and analysts do their job. Why are we spending hours learning how to estimate story points (for example) rather than improving production?

Has anyone tried the idea of swapping creative teams with another company’s in-house team for a one-off project? Thinking it would be nice to give the creative teams a change of pace by working a different brand.

I don't know if this is the ADHD but I've been at my firm for a year and not one day have I woken up with motivation to go above and beyond the bare minimum. I haven't been passionate or interested in any project I've been on. Outside of work, I have a few small hobbies but nothing I'd consider a true passion. Everybody says "just find a job in something you like" but idk if I like anything enough to make it a career!

Got a potential offer from a start up, looking for someone to complete to their entire HR department from the scratch. Currently at a stable fortune500 company with a at will role for a project for 12-15 months. Not very happy with the mundane tasks in this role. I’d be leaving 6mo early than previously discussed. Recruiter reached out regarding Job B at 130K with greater advancement potential but it starts out at 6 Months Contract to Hire per the agency contract. No bonus, benefits adequate by comparison. There is no guarantee to go full time.

We're altering our interview process to eliminate a homework assignment we give to candidates. It's about 2 hours of varying difficulty questions.

The VP wants to replace it with a 1 hour pair programming exercise because he thinks experienced candidates won't bother with homework. A lot of my experienced colleagues would be fine with the homework as long as it was within reason.

I’ve been practicing for 4 years and have experience in small business law, none in construction. I am hesitant to take this on, and cannot tell if it is just new lawyer jitters or common sense.
