Depends on the context of the situation. But generally, cringy.
It really depends on the context. I could see a nervous client doing this without it being inappropriate. Maybe not great in front of opposing counsel.

This. Context is everything. A wink in isolation is just a wink. Clients are weird y’all, and we deal with them at some of the most stressful moments of their lives. Absent anything else, it’s probably just a nervous tic.
I literally exclaimed “ew” when this notification popped up 🤣 so there’s my gut check, though I also agree there’s context that just makes it like… a sign of trust.
LOL. Older southern guy? Happened to me before, assume it’s harmless and being friendly unless there are reason to think otherwise.

All the time. Same guys also curse and look at me and say, “Sorry, don’t mean to curse in front of the ladies.”
Based on this it seems highly inappropriate and potentially sexual used which is crossing the professional boundaries of the relationship. If you’re a junior address it with the representing partner. If not it may be time to address it respectfully with the client if it’s an ongoing thing. The relationship goes both ways and if it’s uncomfortable and inappropriate behaviour you can absolutely deal with it (and should). Dont forget that you can fire clients for various things including behaviour thats abusive/crosses the boundaries to the extent it’s no longer workable.
I’ve had it happen a few times where I actually like it. Like if someone says something dumb and my client and I are on the same page and they’ll wink at me conspiratorially or something. But outside of that, can be off putting and a bit creepy, but overall nothing I get myself too worked up over
You third finger wink them back
🤨🤨🤨
If it’s the older gentleman dad wink, it never bothers me, if its a creepy hit on me wink then yea no thanks
