What is current NY C13 Salary (IA)?
Hi Fishes, I am a Subcon working at CG and have resigned recently with NP of 30 days. Is it necessary to explain as why I have decided to leave? If yes, will it be okay if I tell them practical reason but it would be a lie ofcourse. By any means, i have no intentions of staying back/receiving conversion or even hike since I have a way better opportunity with an organisation of repute and I don't want to get into any corporate politics. Will it be a problem for me if they find out later?Capgemini

Agree with the above, but it’s also an interest thing. FDD is not IB, but it is on the deals side of things. So do you want to be around M&A transactions consistently, or are you more interested in the stock market? I initially joined TS thinking they were similar enough, but as someone more interested in stocks I can tell you they’re definitely not.
The two are very different in nature. And it's a very personal choice. What is driving you toward either one of the positions?
Bank should probably have way better hours than TS. But no guarantee, and if you are focused on your own growth that might be a pro for TS. And TS used to be known for more travel, could be a pro for either choice depending.
You can do well at either.
I'd say it will depend on base salary, bonus opportunity, benefits, but most importantly your gut instinct about which place you would rather work, which group of people you would rather spend all of your time with.
Very different jobs, and you need to figure out what you want from a work life balance, compensation, and career perspective.
Both jobs have long hours, but from what I’ve heard equity research can be pretty brutal. You will likely make more money faster in equity research, but the organizational structure of those groups is very flat. In big four, there’s much more steady progression at regular intervals up to partner. In equity research most people are analysts or associates.
Keep in mind, equity research also involves early days, like being in the office by 630/7am for earnings, etc. Although work from home may have changed things.
I did internships in ER and also now a FDD manager. Just like others have said, they are both different paths. I’d argue hours end up being the same. ER also really depends on they industry coverage you are in as well.
I do not think there will be much traveling. I do deals and work for 3 offices and I do not get flown anywhere, just connected virtually.
